Bret Hart Interview

Bret Hart was on the sports talk show "Off the Record" on TSN in Canada today.

Segment 1: He said he came back mainly because he thought it would be fun. The why not outweighed the whys. He said it was never about the money. He had a cast on his leg on the show still selling his 'broken leg.' He mentions that the hardest part of being retired is most of his friends have died likeOwen, Bulldog and Mr. Perfect. Bret said the wrestlers of today are much more focused and well behaved than his generation.

Segment 2: The host asked Bret about a number of wrestlers. Here's basically what he said:

Shawn Michaels-He forgives Shawn to a certain degree. They talked the afternoon of Bret's return. Said everything they said was very sincere and now with the weight off of each others shoulders they get along as much as they did before Survivor Series 97'.

Triple H-Only seen each other a couple of times and barely talked, said like is too strong of a word to describe how he feels about him.

Ric Flair-Feels sorry for him. Flair chose wrestling when he should have stopped and went home to his family, but never left wrestling and his family moved on. All he knows is the wrestling life of the locker room, airports and bars.

There was more to the interview available online only at www.tsn.ca/shows/otr/

In the online segment Bret discusses breaking his hand punching Vince after the screw job and receiving a call in the hospital after his stroke from Vince.

Talked about how much he can do for Wrestlemania saying the biggest risk is injuring his head. Bret says don't expect the old Hitman in the ring, but he will still entertain his fans with the match.

Bret Hart Interview

CTV.ca has posted a new interview with both Vince McMahon and Bret Hart where the two discuss several topics including the match the two will be having at WrestleMania. Hart said, "Me going back to the ring and doing what I'm going to do this year, as much as I wish, it will never be anything like what I used to do years ago. But at the same time, it should be entertaining. It should be a lot of fun. It will be fun for me just to stand on the top of the ramp or whatever and to walk to the ring will be a fun feeling."

Bret also spoke about Owen Hart's tragic death and said, "Clearly, my brother Owen's death was just a bad accident. You can't hold Vince McMahon directly accountable for that. It was someone underneath who didn't know what they were doing."

Update on WWE Hall of Fame 2010

Word is that no Hall of Fame announcement was made on RAW this week because of time restraints. It's believed that WWE still has three names to announce, with one being Stu Hart. Stu's announcement will likely be tied into the contract signing with Bret Hart, Vince McMahon and Steve Austin on RAW next week.

While it's speculated that WWE and Warrior may have agreed to something recently, Warrior was not one of the names scheduled to be announced at last word. The only thing known about the remaining names is that "they are not names that would be expected."

Potential Problem with Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart at Wrestlemania

As we reported, Eric Bischoff recently posted the following message on his Facebook page:

"Allegedly WWE found out about a Lloyds of London policy that Bret had in effect AFTER setting up this match, and as a result Lloyds of London has to approve of the physical structure of the match. Can't confirm this, and perhaps WWE has 'bought out' the problem, but if not, could be disappointing. Either way, I am looking forward to it and am happy for Bret. Going back to WWE in any capacity was the right thing for him to do at this stage of his life."

Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com has gotten this confirmed from a source within WWE. It is believed that the story broke right before Hart's January 4th return. This could explain why WWE was teasing a tag-team match for a few weeks, but perhaps they were able to work things out with Lloyds.

Bret Hart Comments on Meeting Raw Guest Hosts

Bret Hart posted the following on his Facebook page:

"One of the most enjoyable aspects of returning to WWE and doing various appearances on Monday Night Raw these past couple of months has been meeting and working with the guest hosts. It was great seeing William Shatner, Carl Edwards, and Jerry Springer, who signed his action figure for me, but I have to admit that the biggest thrill was to finally meet my teenage heroes, Cheech and Chong. I finally met up with them immediately following the "Divas Pillow Fight" when their heart rates had just started to come down (not so easy when you're watching the likes of Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox battling in their pajamas). I was surprised to hear Tommy Chong recall, in detail, his fond memories of Stampede Wrestling. Chong, who was Calgary-born and bred, took me back when he said "I used to watch you when I was a kid." I thought to myself "C'mon, give me a break." Maybe my dad or my older brothers, but not likely me. The more we spoke, I realized that it wasn't impossible that this one-time Calgary-kid managed to blend in with the local throngs of fans who once sat riveted to their benches taking in the world's best pro wrestling at that time. The more we chatted, the more I understood that he was telling the truth. He had in fact showed up, probably incognito, to watch me thump "The Stomper" or Bad News Allen once upon at time. It's a satisfying feeling to know that while I was listening to and seeing my heroes for all those years, that he was also watching me back then. Very cool!
