4 Matches Confirmed For Wrestlemania
It was revealed on RAW that Edge will face Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 26 for the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge made his decision after coming to the ring and spearing Jericho.
Also on RAW it was revealed that Shawn Michaels would in fact get a second chance to end The Undertaker's undefeated Wrestlemania streak, as it will be Michaels-Taker II at Wrestlemania 26. However this time, if HBK loses, his career is over.
Money in the Bank will be returning this year, with Christian winning the first qualifying match on RAW.
And finally, it was announced on RAW that Batista will defend the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 26 against John Cena. Cena won the rights in a match with Batista, where Batista purposely got himself disqualified to put Cena into the match with him at Wrestlemania.
Edge’s Return to the Ring
Edge will return to the ring on next week's Friday Night SmackDown in a match against Batista.
Why WWE Seems to Be Combining Hart/McMahon & Batista/Cena
A source within WWE is reporting that there is concern over whether or not WWE Hall of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart will be able to compete in a singles match with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26.
WWE has apparently revealed what they are calling a "contingency plan" for the event, which would feature Hart and John Cena taking on McMahon and Batista in a tag team match. The major concern is Hart's health, so if he in unable to compete in a singles match, WWE may end up combining Hart vs. McMahon and Cena vs. Batista at WrestleMania.
Plans for Batista vs. Cena
Over the next few weeks, Batista will occasionally make extra appearances on RAW while John Cena occasionally makes extra appearances on SmackDown! to execute plans for their involvement at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.
WWE To Air Footage of What Happened After Raw
WWE announced on last night’s ECW that on this Friday’s Smackdown, they will be showing footage of what happened between Batista and John Cena after this week’s RAW when Cena made the save for Bret Hart.
At this point, it looks like we'll either be seeing Bret Hart and John Cena vs. Vince McMahon and Batista in a tag match at Wrestlemania or Cena vs. Batista with Hart and McMahon in respective corners.
Rey Mysterio Interview
During an interview with the Mexican newspaper Esto, Rey Mysterio said that he was two to three years away from retirement. However, he made sure to note that his future in the industry hinges on the reconstructive knee surgery he is getting in April — providing he lasts that long.
When asked who will be his replacement as the top Mexican star in WWE when he leaves, he mentioned Dos Caras, Jr. (Alberto Banderas ring name), Super Nova (the son of El Texano) and Incognito; all of whom are in WWE's developmental system. However, he said he doesn't see any of them as his replacement "because WWE doesn't work that way."
Mysterio also said that his match at the Royal Rumble would be a three-way bout with Undertaker and Batista — which has since been changed.
Big WWE Plans For the Next 3 Months
Although plans can change very quickly in WWE, Bryan Alvarez is reporting that the idea over the weekend was that Triple H is the favorite to win the Royal Rumble and receive a title match against Sheamus at Wrestlemania.
His DX partner Shawn Michaels' is expected to face Batista at the Elimination Chamber ppv to determine who will battle the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
Then the big interbrand match at Wrestlemania would pit John Cena against Batista.
Batista in a New Movie
Batista will star as Michael King in new independent movie Blood Out. The movie begins filming this February in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The film centers around "a small-town sheriff who goes undercover to avenge his brother’s death."
The movie is directed by Jason Hewitt, who produced the movie Wrong Side of Town. That movie features Batista, Rob Van Dam and Big Daddy V and releases on DVD February 23rd.
