Scott Steiner Leaves TNA
It would appear that Scott Steiner has parted ways with TNA as his bio was removed from the company website this evening.
Steiner's status with the company has been in question for months. In fact, he met with TNA talent relations director Terry Taylor on 1/5 to discuss his future with the company. He has not been used since.
It should be noted that a few days before her passing on 1/5, Georgiann Makropoulos reported Steiner expressing his displeasure towards the organization in front of fans at the Orlando hotel the wrestlers were staying at for that's week television tapings.
NXT Wrestling Speaks on the WWE Using It’s Name
A Renfrewshire-based company in Scotland has come under threat from US media giants after a global enterprise decided to use their name and tagline.
Global media giants World Wrestling Entertainment have recently announced their plans to launch WWE:NXT, the NXT Generation of wrestling. This has since been a cause for concern for Scottish promotion NXT Wrestling, a local company who risk getting squashed in favour of the multi-million dollar WWE headed by Vince McMahon.
NXT Wrestling was announced in 2006 and launched in 2007 as a way of giving young men with dreams their chance to break free from their lives and live for a few moments in the spotlight. NXT and it's associated promotion the Scottish Wrestling Alliance have strived to bring quality family entertainment to towns and halls across the West of Scotland, culminating in the struggle to bring an ailing genre into the spotlight with events in Kelvin Hall, and has helped raise funds for charities including Torkhill Childrens Foundation.
When WWE announced their new brand as NXT, using the same tagline 'NXT Generation' and emphasis on developmental talent, staff and employee's began to worry when they woke up to the new on Wednesday morning.
"We have had no direct contact from WWE regarding this matter but we welcome any conversation or resolution they would like to put forward." Commented Peter Murphy, owner of the Scottish Wrestling Alliance.
"Everyone at the Scottish Wrestling Alliance is honoured that WWE have decided to name their latest product after SWA's feeder programme, NXT. We would like to assure our fans that the original NXT is still leading the way for trainees in Scotland and the shows on 6th February, Spittal Community Centre, Rutherglen, 19th February, Bargarran Community Centre, Erskine, March 6th, Viewpark Community Centre, Uddingston and March 19th, Links Community Centre, Cumbernauld are all still due to go ahead as advertised."
After long and careful planning, SWA:NXT made it’s debut in January 2007 as a promotion designed to showcase up and coming talent within Scotland in conjunction with SWA’s Area 52 wrestling school. In 2009 NXT Wrestling split from the Scottish Wrestling Alliance to stand on it’s own two feet, taking it’s own creative direction in September last year.
The goal within the company is to give younger talent an opportunity to showcase their abilities and get noticed. Several of our NXT talents over the years have gone on to work across the UK, gain international interest and win NWA Heavyweight championships. NXT promoted shows across the West of Scotland with our next event scheduled this weekend, February 6th in Rutherglen which features some fresh young talent who have risen through the ranks of their training facility and earned their place on the event.
Dixie Carter Has to Pressure Hogan To Continue Pushing TNA Originals?
Hulk Hogan has been complaining to friends about frustrations from working in TNA because he feels pressure to give pushes to people he doesn't want to push. Word is that Dixie Carter doesn't want the TNA originals to be buried but there are wrestlers from the old crew that Hogan sees nothing in and wants to get rid of. Hogan was apparently high on Tomko as he made a remark about how at least Tomko looks like a wrestler.
Reason For TNA Using A 6-Sided Ring on the UK Tour
It was reported before that the reason TNA used a six-sided ring on the recent UK tour was because they had already shipped it before doing away with the ring. Technically that's not correct as the company has had a six-sided ring in storage in the UK since their first tour of the country.
Latest News of Awesome Kong’s TNA Status
As mentioned a few weeks back, Awesome Kong asked for her release from TNA after the backstage altercation with Bubba the Love Sponge. Word going around is that the company denied her request to be released. Kong was talked into working the TV taping the night after her fight with Bubba but told TNA officials she would not be going on the UK tour after they wouldn’t grant her release. The issue between her and Bubba is apparently resolved after a meeting with her, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.
There is heat between Kong and TNA over money also. Kong is said to be especially touchy when she sees the company spending money on new talents while claiming they can’t afford to give raises to her and other Knockouts. There is assumption within TNA that Christy Hemme and Tara are paid well because of their careers in WWE but there’s frustration over the pay that the rest of TNA’s Knockouts receive.
Helms Lost $5000 From the Royal Rumble & Perhaps Facing Wellness Violation?
As noted before, Gregory Helms was found with a single soma pill in his bag when arrested with Chris Jericho. If Helms didn't have a prescription for the drug like he claimed and even though the police aren't charging him for it, WWE would be forced to suspend him for 60 days on his second Wellness violation. WWE's current policy says that every prescription a wrestler has is supposed to be filed ahead of time with Dr. David Black. All prescriptions are supposed to be written by the company doctors who travel with the WWE crew. Helms has a previous violation against him for his name coming up in the Signature Pharmacy scandal in 2007 and has never failed a WWE drug test.
There has been a lot of talk backstage regarding Helms' future with WWE after the incident. Based on the success of the Royal Rumble PPV which he was pulled from, Helms missed out on a payoff from the show that would have been around $5,000.
It's said that Helms was apologetic to WWE officials for the incident.
Backstage News From the Royal Rumble
- The Royal Rumble PPV in Atlanta at the Philips Arena drew an advanced sellout announced at 16,697 fans with about 13,500 paying for a gate of $800,000.
- Several WWE Superstars were brought into the Royal Rumble on Sunday and didn't know until the day of the show whether or not they were in the Rumble match, given the empty spots and any last minute changes.
- Chris Jericho was saying that his black eye came from an accidental shot in his match with R-Truth at the Smackdown tapings in Cincinnati. It was believed by some that the black eye came from his taxi incident with Gregory Helms.

Honky Tonk Man Is Considering Suing TNA
The following was posted on HonkyTonkMan.net:
To Todd Alan Clem, AKA Bubba the love Sponge:
We have honored your request to remove any of your photos and video from our site. We have a request to make of you. We would like to have copies of all the Eric Bischoff interview segments where he mentions HTM. We feel we are in a strong position to pursue defamation of character from Mr. Bischoff’s statements concerning HTM’s value to the wrestling industry.
These tapes will be passed on to our attorney for him to decide if we should pursue this issue. Mr. Clem is not a party to this action at this time. Mr. Bischoff who represents TNA as an official and executive of TNA will have to answer for his derogatory remarks much like Mr. Russo had to answer for his words concerning his comments about Hulk Hogan on a WCW broadcast. Mr. Hogan could become a party to this action since he has said he is in charge of the day to day operations of TNA and was on the same segment of Mr. Clem’s radio show when the defaming statements were made.
We pray for a timely response to our request.
Kurt Angle Brought Up In Steroids Case
Kurt Angle’s name came up in a federal trial of nine men associated with Applied Pharmacy in Mobile, Alabama that is going on this week. Assistant US Attorney Donna Dobbins brought up Angle and Jose Canseco as clients of the pharmacy in her closing arguments on Tuesday. She said, “Each one of them (the defendants) participated in this conspiracy. They operated a steroid mill, and they would dispense anabolic steroids to anyone whose credit card was good.”
