Bret Hart Will Appear on Raw
To put any doubt to rest, Bret Hart will indeed be appearing on Raw tomorrow night after being "invited" back by Vince McMahon. The WWE Hall of Famer wrote the following note on his Facebook account this past Friday:
"20,000 fans in a couple weeks! Thank you fans! Watch me on WWE RAW this coming monday."
Rob Van Dam Interview
About.com recently conducted an interview with Rob Van Dam to promote this weekend's WrestleReunion event. Here are some highlights:
- RVD on returning to TV: That I don't know. I guess as soon as and if a deal is worked out between myself and a wrestling company that is on television. I don't have any hidden information to offer right now. No deals have been made. But I am feeling more ready than I have been in the last three, actually more ready than in the past five years to actually consider enjoying wrestling again.
- RVD on the new TNA: I actually am very much more interested since they've been there. I think that they've shook the wrestling world up and made it interesting again. The Monday night, January 4, airing of TNA up against WWE was by far their highest rated show and was the highest rated Monday night in a long time. All wrestling fans were tuned in flipping back and forth and that was very interesting because for a very long time there hasn't been much to be excited about. There is always something better on the television in the Van Dam household than wrestling and that's been that way for the longest time. But I tuned into wrestling. I felt the optimism as Hulk Hogan talked about changes being made. And I appreciate what TNA is doing trying to make a lot of noise that a lot of people will hear. I know that it is not a short-term plan but they plan on continuing to make noise. So we'll see what happens. We'll see if I fall into that or not.
- RVD on Cheech & Chong hosting RAW: I'm a fan of Cheech and Chong just like anyone that has enjoyed their movies. I don't know that a lot of the young kids are going to know who Cheech and Chong are unless they saw the old DVDs. But anyway, they represent marijuana and obviously WWE changes their cycle of policy with everything. Every three or four months they change policy. This is cool and this isn't cool anymore. And then in a few months we'll have a meeting and now this is cool and this isn't cool. We need this and no more of this. And that has always been the deal. Vince [McMahon] has a bunch of advisers and he listens to whoever gets through to him the most and that causes him to change his policy. Because different people get through to him on different days. Cheech and Chong, hopefully it will be good for the fans and they will enjoy it. I've gotten a lot of feedback from the fans saying: “Hey, they're asking for you”. No they're not asking for me. They're just having Cheech and Chong doing guest cameos.
Jim Ross Blog
Jim Ross is back with another blog on jrsbarbq.com this weekend. Here are a few highlights:
- Yes, this year's Royal Rumble, this Sunday night on PPV, is the most hard to call, unpredictable WWE PPV in a good while. I wish I could be there to call it if for nothing else the Rumble match. This isn't a company line hyperbole but how I honestly feel. Several men could win the Rumble match and it would make sense. I look for some significant surprises in Atlanta.
- If Davyboy Smith and Tommy Billington ever go in th WWE HOF will it be as singles or as the British Bulldogs? I don't know but my guess would be as a team.
- Yes..I enjoyed Friday Night Smackdown this week. Hairy chested CM Punk vs HHH was old school good while HBK vs Mysterio was PPV quality.
- Is it really automatic that Undertaker beats Rey in dominating fashion? Nothing is guaranteed.
- Got several text messages Saturday night from many WWE stars who definitely have their game faces on as it relates to Sunday's Royal Rumble. I expect a strong work ethic to be put forth in Atlanta. Call it Wrestlemania adrenaline.
Gregory Helms Removed From TV This Week As Well as the Royal Rumble
According to F4WOnline.com, Gregory Helms has been pulled from more than just Sunday's Royal Rumble lineup.
At press time, the word was that in addition to being removed from the advertised card for the pay-per-view, Helms will also not be attending television this week.
Helms has been implicated as the primary wrongdoer in an alcohol-fueled incident that led to he and Chris Jericho getting arrested for public intoxication last Wednesday. While most wrestling sources say the entire situation was blown out of proportion, Helms caught a wave of bad press from TMZ-fueled reporting, which initially held that Helms struck Jericho, another man and a woman in a cab prior to running away from the situation.
Reports later clarified that the crowd in the cab was "play wrestling," but the publicity damage had already been done.
Rob Van Dam Returns to the Ring
Rob Van Dam returned to the ring last night at a PWG show in Los Angeles. Van Dam defeated Roderick Strong and Chris Hero in a three-way match. Van Dam had a live band who performed a song about him as his entrance.
Sheamus & WWE Diva Available for Live Chat with Fans During The PPV
WWE Champion Sheamus and the winner of the WWE Women's Title match between Michelle McCool and Mickie James at tonight's Royal Rumble will be joining WWE's website during the pay-per-view for a live fan chat.
Jericho & Helms Make Light of Their Arrest
-- Below are some tweets from Chris Jericho and Hurricane Helms who have been mocking their recent arrest:
Jericho:
"At a live band heavy metal karaoke bar. Just rocked Creeping Death... Where's TMZ when u need em?"
"Some drunk just did the worst version of Fire Woman ever. He should be arrested for Alcohol Intoxication..."
"At a rock n roll church with The Duke and Big John. It's been a crazy week and I needed some fellowship and some humbling. Feels good."
Helms:
"Been off the grid for a few days, what I miss?"
-- For those ordering the online stream of Royal Rumble tonight, WWE.com will not be offering any bonus matches.
TNA Still Planning On All X-Division PPV
As noted before, TNA apparently is planning on holding an all X Division pay-per-view with this year's Ultimate X event in March. Promotional material for the show reads like this: "The past, the present, and the future collide in an all X-Division Pay-per-View."
Scott Hall & Sean Waltman Removed From Impact Video
Scott Hall and Sean Waltman have been removed from the opening iMPACT video.
