DJ Gabriel Back to WWE Developmental
After several months of inactivity, DJ Gabriel has been dropped from the main WWE roster. His profile was removed yesterday from the ECW roster section. It should be noted, however, that he has not been released as he's been appearing in the company's developmental promotion as of late.
The young British wrestler has not appeared in a WWE ring since being split from his manager, Alicia Fox, during April's 2009 Supplemental Draft. He recently begun donning a mask and going under the name "Mr. FCW" in Florida Championship Wrestling.
Updates on Don Caras, Jr. And Low Ki
-- In an update on WWE developmental wrestler Alberto Banderas (Dos Caras, Jr.), he has not been released by the company (as some have speculated due to his picture no longer appearing on the official website of Florida Championship Wrestling). He is presently inactive due to injury.
-- In an update on Low Ki (known as Kawal in developmental), he is still recovering from reconstructive knee surgery. He too is still under contact to World Wrestling Entertainment.
Kofi Kingston Interview
WWE wrestler Kofi Kingston said in an interview he dropped the Jamaican accent to become more marketable as a top star with a character closer to his true personality. He mentioned Triple H dropping the blue blood gimmick as Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Steve Austin transforming from "Stunning Steve" to "Stone Cold."
"When I came to the WWE initially I wanted to come out to something that attributed both my love for wrestling and the Jamaican heritage," Kofi told Sky Sports. "I wanted to come out to something unique and something people had never seen before. But at a certain point it becomes about being real and true to yourself, as opposed to playing a character. ... I think in wrestling and the WWE you see a trend of guys who make transitions. And I think for me I'm in that transition stage into coming into my own."
Kofi was the focal point of Raw this week when he was booked to defeat Chris Jericho in the ring, begin a feud with Randy Orton, and destroy Orton's NASCAR vehicle. Kofi confirmed he'll be in the ring against Orton with an opportunity to work with a constant main-eventer.
"To be able to go in there with Randy will definitely be a great learning experience for me and I think there are going to be some great matches and great things to come from the two of us," Kofi said.
JR Blog
Jim Ross is back with another blog on JRsBarBQ.com and here are some of the highlights:
- We got some medical tests back this morning which eliminated me having MS which was a relief. We had been waiting on that news for over a week. We have more tests scheduled next week as the process is essentially trying to eliminate issues that I might have but likely don't. The waiting process gets a little stressful and my wife is a Saint for putting up with my orneriness as patience isn't a virtue for yours truly.
- Good to see Lance Cade regroup and get back with WWE. Cade has size, athletic ability and the potential to be a really top hand and I hope that he makes it. Many of us have received second chances, or more, in our lives and I am a strong believer that second chances are a good thing. I hope that Lance realizes his dreams of becoming a main event level, WWE star and on a personal level I would love to see Cade in an issue with his mentor Shawn Michaels down the road.
- Did you know that Paul Heyman "consults" Brock Lesnar on selected projects? Strategic move by Brock who doesn't like to deal with matters of this sort. I hope the UFC Champion gets well soon and enjoys the holidays while preparing for his next fight tentatively scheduled for January 2010. If I'm still on IR, or whatever, I might try and make that one in Vegas.
Hulk Hogan Wants To Teach TNA Wrestlers The “Art Form”
Hulk Hogan told Time Magazine the following:
"When I woke up and realized I should be my own man and be responsible for being happy, I realized I still have a lot to contribute to the wrestling business. And jumping into TNA [Total Nonstop Action] and being a part of that company is huge. I have a chance to give back and help these young wrestlers who don't understand the business and the art form."
Hulk Hogan Claiming To Have Creative Power In TNA
Though public reports continue to maintain that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff will not have indoctrinated creative power under the TNA umbrella, Hogan has been telling friends and wrestling peers something to the contrary.
F4WOnline.com says that Hogan is telling wrestlers he hopes to recruit that, regardless of what is said publicly, he will be calling the shots in TNA--he will have more influence than anyone (including Bischoff), with the exception of Bob Carter, who is the financial power behind the company.
Concern Over Edge’s Injury And Return Timetable
There has been a lot of concern lately within WWE that Edge won’t return to the ring in time for Wrestlemania. His injury is one you really can’t rush back from if it’s not 100% healed.
