Hey, TNA! Bring Back the Comedy
Within the past few months, TNA has made a huge mistake. That mistake was the dceision to get rid of the comedy that used to be their strengths.

Comedy Hour
For a period of time in 2007, TNA iMPACT! was routinely producing weeks of entertaining shows.
During that time, the show was only an hour long. The wrestling was quick, but exciting. And the backstage segments were absolutely hilarious.
There wasn't a week that went by where there wasn't one great comedic segment that wrestling fans were talking about for the next week.
Usually, those segments consisted of either two groups. One included Christian Cage, AJ Styles, and Tomko. The other group consisted of Kevin Nash and Kurt Angle.
It was almost as if those two groups competed with one another to see who could produce the most entertaining segments. The winner, of course, were the fans who enjoyed funny segments.
Then, TNA took it all away.
For some reason unbeknownst to most fans, TNA decided to go with a less comedic approach. Christian Cage hardly gets to do comedic segments. Kevin Nash is basically a serious person now. Kurt Angle's segments have gone from funny to annoying.
That needs to change. The comedy needs to come back. |
Funniest Wrestling Personalities
Throughout the last few years, there have been some wrestling personalities that stand out from the rest when it comes to being entertaining and funny. Certain guys just have that knack for being funny. It's something that you can't learn. You either have it or you don't.
Now, if you're one of those that find repetitive midget humor to be funny, then you're probably not going to agree with this list. Hornswoggle has his moments, but the majority of the time, it's just the writers doing lame jokes.
These are the true comedians in professional wrestling.
In TNA, the funny guys are AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, Black Reign (when he's Goldust, that is), Booker T, Christian Cage, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, and Brother Ray.
The funny guys on Monday Night Raw are Carlito, Chris Jericho, JBL, Mr Kennedy, Santino Marella, Shawn Michaels (used to be a lot funnier), Triple H, and William Regal. Plenty of hilarious guys on board, but they're not really allowed to show it off as much as they should be.
The strongest sense of humor on Smackdown belong to Chavo Guerrero, Edge, Gregory Helms, and Jamie Noble. Edge is one of the true kings of comedy in the wrestling business.
ECW has Colin Delaney, Matt Striker, and Stevie Richards. Colin Delaney's character is just hilarious. He's got potential to be even funnier if the writers keep coming up with good material.
Closing Thoughts
Comedy has its place in pro wrestling. TNA needs to realize that. |
