WWE has a little over a month to build up a legendary storyline so that Ric Flair can ride off into the sunset at Wrestlemania 24.

Retiring Ric
Ric Flair deserves a great final chapter. He's done so much in professional wrestling that it would be a shame not to give it to him.
For a while there, it appeared that Ric Flair was just going to fade away from the business that he's worked for since 1972.
Then along came Stone Cold Steve Austin to save the day.
Despite rumors that he dislikes Ric Flair, Steve Austin was the one that heavily pushed WWE to give Ric Flair a proper sendoff. He even came up with the retirement storyline that Ric Flair is currently involved in.
The storyline started a few months ago, and it showed a lot of promise. The storyline hasn't been a flop by any means, but it hasn't exactly blown us all away either.
In fact, Steve Austin himself has stated that he's disappointed with how the storyline has transpired. This storyline hasn't been as exciting as his original idea intended it to be.
The entire storyline can still be salvaged, though. There's still a good amount of time between now and Wrestlemania 24.
It's now up to Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair to make the final chapter memorable. |
The Final Chapter
The seeds have been planted for what should be a great program between Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.
On Monday Night Raw this week, Shawn Michaels made the huge announcement that Ric Flair would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 24 this year. You can expect the induction to be involved heavily in the storyline.
Shawn Michaels also planted less subtle seeds by heavily praising Ric Flair. He even went as far as to say that he idolized Ric Flair. The Heart Break Kid also claimed that Ric Flair was the reason that he became a professional wrestler.
WWE can play that up the friendship and mutual respect between the two wrestlers leading up to Wrestlemania 24. They can even have them teaming up a few times on Monday Night Raw.
In the days leading up to Wrestlemania 24, WWE can have Shawn Michaels asking Ric Flair for the honor of inducting him at the Hall of Fame ceremony. Ric Flair, though, would have to politely turn him down.
Ric Flair can then announce that he's choosing either Arn Anderson or Roddy Piper as the man to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Shawn Michaels would then take offense to the "snub".
With that, you have a reason behind a match at Wrestlemania. There would be heat between the two characters, but it's not the type of heat where they're looking to hurt one another. They're both just wanting to have a good match.
Closing Thoughts
When you have two of the best performers in the history of the business, you should expect to see a great final chapter. |
