The Big Show made his anticipated return at WWE No Way Out, but he got a lot more than he bargained for in the form of professional boxer Floyd Mayweather.

The Big Return
Everyone already knew that the Big Show was going to be making his come back. What people didn't know was when he would make his come back.
WWE wanted his return to be a surprise, so they held him out of the Royal Rumble. Instead, they had him make his return at the No Way Out pay per view.
It's great to see that he spent a good portion of his time away from wrestling in the gym. The announcers stated that the Big Show has lost over 100 pounds, and it looks like he did. He's in the best shape in the last few years.
Management also chose a pretty nice method of bringing him back. He came back and acted like a babyface initially. Within minutes, he turned into a heel by attacking the very popular Rey Mysterio.
Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather came to Rey Mysterio's rescue. The boxer was seen with Rey Mysterio earlier in the night, so it wasn't a shock that he would make the save.
Floyd Mayweather got in some pretty stiff shots on the Big Show. In fact, it was so stiff that there's a major debate going on between the fans right now as to whether or not the segment was scripted.

The Next Show
WWE has a couple of directions that they can go with the Big Show for Wrestlemania. First of all, know that the plan has always been for him to return in time to work a match at Wrestlemania. They weren't going to waste that opportunity.
The most popular option right now is to have the Big Show working a program with Floyd Mayweather. Right now, there's no word on whether or not the boxer would like to work a match at Wrestlemania. With WWE being known for craving celebrity presence at Wrestlemania, it wouldn't be a surprise for them to thrown an enormouse amount of money towards Floyd Mayweather.
Another program that Big Show could be thrown into at Wrestlemania would be in a match against Rey Mysterio. A match between the two would be suitable for Wrestlemania because it wouldn't be that hard to hype up a "David and Goliath" marketing campaign for the match.
Rey Mysterio is expected to take the next few weeks off from the ring. He really wants to work Wrestlemania, and WWE really wants him to as well. The big Wrestlemania bonus check is pretty tempting for any wrestler. The checks have to be pretty good, especially when you consider that Bobby Lashley was considered "underpaid" with his $250,000 bonus check last year.
Other potential opponents for the Big Show at Wrestlemania include Ric Flair and Batista. They can give the Big Show more heel heat by having him end Ric Flair's career. That, or the writers can have Batista standing up for Rey Mysterio (if he's unable to work Wrestlemania this year).
Closing Thoughts
Nice to see another main event wrestler returning to WWE. |
