Rhino Returns
At Turning Point, Rhino was scheduled to team up with Abyss against Rellik and Black Reign. However, an injury kept him from participating in the match, and fans haven't seen him since.
Last night, at the Against All Odds pay per view, Rhino made his surprise return by attacking "Cowboy" James Storm in his match against Eric Young.
Apparently, TNA is going to continue the feud between Rhino and James Storm. It appeared that the feud had ended after Rhino was placed into a hardcore program involving Abyss. However, it appears the feud is back on.
On Thursday night, we'll get a clearer picture as Rhino is expected to cut a promo on TNA iMPACT! in regards to why he attacked James Storm.
Whenever a wrestler makes a return after an extended absence, there's a bit of momentum that accompanies the wrestler. TNA could have chosen to have Rhino being involved with someone much higher up on the card. However, they chose to start things up again between James Storm and Rhino.
At the very least, we don't have to see the feud between James Storm and Eric Young continue. There really was no chemistry between the two, and the feud negatively affected their momentum. |
The Stalling Storm
For a while there, "Cowboy" James Storm was viewed as one of the fastest rising stars in TNA. He was building up plenty of momentum after splitting up from his America's Most Wanted tag team partner, "Wildcat" Chris Harris. In fact, he had surprised the wrestling critics by being the bigger star between the two former tag team partners.
James Storm then engaged in a pretty good feud with Rhino. That feud helped his momentum because his character was allowed to develop.
Well, all that momentum went down the drain thanks to an uneventful feud with Eric Young. They're both solid in-ring performers, but the feud simply hasn't really hit it off. Not every feud created is going to generate excitement. This was one of those feuds that failed. It happens.
With James Storm's momentum low right now, they might as well use him to elevate Rhino again. Like we stated, Rhino has momentum right now because of his extended absence. He's going to need some wins over a few midcard wrestlers so he can move up back up the ladder. James Storm seems like a good first opponent for Rhino to bowl over.
After that, TNA can have him plow through the likes of Rellik, Black Reign, and perhaps even Judas Mesias. How far Rhino goes after that depends on the reaction that the audience is giving him.
Closing Thoughts
Rhino is back. Hopefully, TNA uses the momentum that he has right now to push him further up the ladder. |
