Personality Clash
Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon simply could not work together. That's usually the case when you have two alpha males woring together.
The mad genius from Scarsdale, New York turned a small wrestling promotion into a phenomenon. He took ECW to levels that probably no other wrestling mind in this world could have. Paul Heyman took a bunch of no name wrestlers and turned them into household wrestling names.
With that in mind, it's not difficult to imagine that Paul Heyman would have a pretty big ego. Of course, the man signing his paychecks had an ego that was ten times as big as his.
Vince McMahon also took a wrestling promotion and took it to levels that no one dared imagine. He turned WWE (known as WWF back then) from a regional territory into a global sensation.
On paper, you would think that WWE would be producing the best shows ever with two of the top wrestling minds ever. However, that would not be the case.
"So Vince didn’t like working with me anymore and I didn’t like working with Vince anymore."

He's Done
In the interview, Paul Heyman also sounded like a man who is entirely done with the wrestling business. A lot of fans have been clamoring for the return of Paul Heyman. Many believe that he could easily resurrect the ECW brand if given the creative freedom from Vince McMahon.
We're not going to find out.
If it was up to Stephanie McMahon, though, the man formerly known as Paul E Dangerously would be back with the company. Despite rumors that there was friction between the two, Stephanie McMahon did offer Paul Heyman a job with the company after he left. She wanted him in charge of the WWE developmental program. Stephanie McMahon is fully aware that Paul Heyman can create new characters that would become future stars on Raw, Smackdown, and ECW.
Stephanie McMahon offered Paul Heyman a lucrative deal in 2007 to take over OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling) and DSW (Deep South Wrestling). For years, Vince McMahon was labeled as a wrestling genius who was capable of creating stars with simply the snap of a finger. Well, when you look at the guys that are on the main roster, you can clearly see that the Chairman hasn't snapped his fingers in a while. So, they tried turning to Paul Heyman.
However, he wasn't interested. Paul Heyman just doesn't want to be in the wrestling industry right now. As wrestling fans, we'll just have to accept it.
Closing Thoughts
Paul Heyman will probably never return to the wrestling business. He doesn't really need to since his place in history has been secured. |
