Dismembered in December
The last time Paul Heyman had creative input into the new ECW was at the December to Dismember pay per view.
December to Dismember was the first and only WWE pay per view that was solely an ECW brand show. It was also one of the worst pay per views of all time.
For some reason, the WWE expected people to buy a pay per view where only two matches were promoted.
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy faced off against Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury in an interbrand tag team match. Bobby Lashley, the Big Show, Rob Van Dam, Hardcore Holly, CM Punk, and Test battled inside an Extreme Elimination Chamber over the ECW Heavyweight Championship.
The rest of the show was basically filled with matches that you would normally see on a regular episode of ECW on Sci Fi.
Vince McMahon placed the blame on Paul Heyman, despite the fact that he worked without complete creative control. Many believed that Paul Heyman was being set up to fail.
Ever since then, Paul Heyman has been collecting a paycheck from the WWE without having to actually work. The WWE was willing to pay him to keep him away from the competitors. |
