TNA Slammiversary
TNA Slammiversary is upon us. TNA's version of Wrestlemania will be taking place this weekend. It's a packed show.
This weekend's show celebrates the 5th year of existence for TNA. It also marks the first time that Slammiversary will be held outside of Orlando, Florida. The event is being held in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
In keeping with tradition, the main event will be a King of the Mountain match. Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christian, and a mystery opponent will be competing for the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship. The mystery opponent is a well kept secret, something that TNA is good at doing as evident by the secrecy of the Angle signing.
The legendary Sting will face off against Christopher Daniels. The storyline between the two has been slowly brewing for the past few months where Daniels has been emulating certain aspects of Sting's character.
In an X Division Championship match, Chris Sabin will be defending against "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. Lethal has a good chance at winning the title due the enormous increase in his popularity since adopting the Macho Man gimmick.
In a battle between two former WWE tag teams, Voodoo Kin Mafia (formerly known as Billy Gunn and Road Dogg) will square off against Damaja and Basham (formerly known as Doug and Danny Basham). This is the continuation of the storyline where Christy Hemme has been bringing in tag teams to take down Voodoo Kin Mafia.
Former NFL star Frank Wycheck will team up with Jerry Lynn to do battle with James Storm and Ron Killings. Wycheck has been garnering some media attention for TNA with his involvement in Slammiversary. Killings has garnered some attention on the internet for his recent altercation with WWE champion John Cena at an airport in North Carolina.
Eric Young and Robert Roode face off in a match that should end their lengthy rivalry. For the past few months, Young has battled Roode to win his freedom back.
Rhino and Chris Harris will face off against LAX in a matchup based around the rivalry between Konnan and Hector Guerrero. Bob Backlund makes his return to the ring against Alex Shelley.
Looks to be a really entertaining show. |
