With CM Punk not being on television for a couple of months now, his merchandise sales have been slumping a bit. That has enabled Daniel Bryan to move to the second spot on the list of WWE stars who move the most units. Management wants to try to close the gap between Bryan and John Cena, who sits at the top spot by a considerable margin.

Even though he has not been with the company for quite a few weeks now, CM Punk is still receiving paychecks from WWE. He still ranks among the top merchandise movers in the entire company, with some reports stating that he only trails John Cena in that category. Punk is still under contract to WWE, so management is still paying him his royalties.

In times of tragedy, the worst of the worst comes out, in order to take advantage of the situation. Several people have been selling illegal Ultimate Warrior merchandise shortly after the WWE legend died last week. Lawyers for his marketing company have already sent out cease and desist letters to over 100 different people, demanding that they quit selling products with his likeness attached.

Since the masked performer has yet to put his signature on a brand new contract, WWE has been purposely downplaying his role on Monday Night Raw and Smackdown. However, management does indeed want to keep Rey Mysterio around for at least another year, as they feel that he still has some merchandise value. Plus, he is already involved in the Flintstones movie.
March 19, 2014
With his contract expiring in a few weeks, things might have just became easier for WWE to let Rey Mysterio walk away. Merchandise sales for the masked superstar have dropped as of late. His consistent ability to generate revenue for the company was a big reason why they never gave up on Mysterio as his body repeatedly failed him over the years.

While there is a legal storm brewing between the two sides, there is now a chance that WWE might not be willing to fight with Sin Cara over the use of the name, as the value of the character has dropped tremendously over the last couple of weeks. When merchandise sales remained strong, management utilized Hunico in the role to help keep that going. The numbers have since dropped.

For the longest time there, CM Punk was the second best when it comes to moving merchandise. The fact that he was only behind John Cena is a big reason why Vince McMahon wants him back in WWE. Well, his absence has caused Daniel Bryan, whose popularity has remained strong despite not being given the title, to move up into the second spot now.
March 14, 2014
Since the company was so focused on other wrestlers over the last couple of months, Steve Austin has not been a focal point for WWE heading into Wrestlemania 30, but there is now a change, as management wants to do a big merchandise push in the coming months. Despite not being there any more, Austin still remains as one of the top merchandise sellers for WWE.
March 13, 2014
During his podcast interview with Jim Ross, the topic of John Cena doing a heel turn was brought up with Steve Austin. The former WWE star was adamant that the move should not happen. Austin pointed out that his own heel turn was a disaster because it ruined his merchandise sales. He feels that the same would happen if Cena were to make the turn.

In the past, Vince McMahon was quick to bury wrestlers who did anything remotely negative towards WWE, so it is quite telling that the CEO has opted to remain quiet on CM Punk. The belief is that McMahon really is hoping that Punk changes his mind and returns because he moves a lot of merchandise and is quite the draw for the company.
March 6, 2014
Despite being sent legal threats from the company, it appears that Sin Cara has opted to be defiant towards WWE. The masked wrestler recently won a championship down in Mexico while using the name and character, both of which he claims ownership to. New merchandise has been made despite the possibility of a lawsuit coming.

While things have been quiet as of late, the belief is that WWE is still negotiating with Sting on a contract. It will not be the type of deal that fans have been longing for over the last couple of years. The discussions now have been leaning more towards merchandise and a hall of fame induction at Wrestlemania 31.
February 21, 2014
As is expected, there are several people backstage within WWE that are trying to discredit CM Punk and his value to the company. Some are stating that he was not much of a draw to live events and pay per view events. His supporters, however, are pointing out that he sold the most merchandise behind John Cena.
February 13, 2014
Hunico might be cashing in a nice pay per view bonus check at Wrestlemania 30 this year, as WWE still has interest in using the Sin Cara character at the event. Merchandise sales have remained strong, and the company wants to continue to capitalize. There may be a lawsuit coming from the original performer, though.
February 12, 2014
While there are still fans clamoring for him to move down the card, John Cena should remain high in the eyes of WWE officials, as his merchandise is still the top movers. Randy Orton and CM Punk round out the top three, with Daniel Bryan coming in at fourth. Sin Cara still remains a top seller.
February 6, 2014
While the majority of the pay per view has already been announced, there are rumors backstage that an eight match could be added. Davey Richards and Eddie Edward are expected to be given a spot on the show, and their opponents could be Zema Ion, Robbie E and Jessie Godderz. There are also talks that MVP could be added if TNA doesn't want to do a handicap tag team match.
April 21, 2014
For the longest time there, MVP was the longest reigning WWE United States Heavyweight Champion, but that mark looks to be broken soon if Dean Ambrose can hold on to the belt a little while longer. The Shield member rarely defends the belt, but WWE could opt to include it in the story line against Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista.

Rumors are floating around right now that Low Ki could be making his return to TNA in the near future. The former X Division Champion contemplated retirement not too long ago, but he had a change of heart apparently. Low Ki has a close relationship with Samoa Joe and MVP, so that have played a part in his potential return to TNA.

The big draw on Impact Wrestling this week is the return of Dixie Carter to television. TNA has been working a story line where she has been in hiding since losing control of the company to MVP at TNA Lockdown 2014. No official word has been given on what her character will do on Impact Wrestling, but the belief is that Carter will be going after MVP again.

A picture of the official Slammiversary 2014 poster, which features Brutus Magnus as the centerpiece attraction. Behind him are Bobby Roode, Jeff Hardy, MVP and Kurt Angle, which has led to speculations that TNA could be doing a big world heavyweight championship match featuring all five of the performers.
March 26, 2014
While he has now made a commitment to TNA, it is being rumored that the deal between Dixie Carter and MVP is flexible enough to enable the former WWE star to do tours of Japan on occasions. While he has nothing officially scheduled overseas right now, MVP wanted to maintain that bit of freedom that Triple H and Vince McMahon would not give him.
March 16, 2014
To generate even further heat, Rockstar Spud will be hosting a special tribute segment to Dixie Carter on Impact Wrestling this week. The story line is that she has lost control of her company to MVP, whose team was victorious at TNA Lockdown 2014 thanks to the help of Bully Ray, who pulled off a surprising face turn that evening.
March 13, 2014
When asked during a recent interview about the backstage heat situation between CM Punk and WWE, MVP revealed that he is supportive of the move. He noted that he had a year left on his contract when he asked for a release from the company. MVP is grateful to the company, but he also felt the need to be happy with his own work.
March 5, 2014
During a recent interview, MVP revealed that he did indeed meet with Triple H about a possible return to WWE. However, he opted to sign with TNA instead. The former US champion stated that even though he wanted to return to WWE, he simply could not sign on for the hectic schedule that the company requires of its performers. He still wanted the option to do tours with New Japan.
March 5, 2014
While a lot of fans are aware that he has been participating in MMA for the last couple of years, very few actually know how good MVP has become at the sport. This picture of him winning the gold medal at the IBJJF Houston Open should help people understand that this is not just a hobby to the former United States champion.

I've said for years even when I was with WWE that I want TNA to do well, I never saw TNA as the enemy – that would be ridiculous, I love professional wrestling. Part of the reason why I chose to go to TNA was because it's not good for the fans or for the industry when there is just one conglomerate and nowhere else to go. The most prosperous and entertaining time in our business was during the Monday Night Wars – you had two companies that were fairly evenly matched, both with top tier stars, and they were battling with each other for ratings. That meant everything had to be fresh, everything had to be edgy and everyone really had to rack their brain to come up with exciting storylines, all of the guys had to work really hard and there were 12 million people a week tuning into wrestling. Now there is less than half that, if you're in the wrestling industry now in the States there are only two places to go centrally, WWE or TNA. I would like to try and help facilitate, creating a situation where the WWE has to recognize TNA as a potential competitor and if you know like I do, WWE holds all the marbles then for the artists, the talent it's not good for our business, competition is good for business." - MVP discusses competition within the business
February 22, 2014
While watching Impact Wrestling this week, Kevin Nash decided to go on Twitter and vent about the main story line going on within the company. Nash questioned how MVP could do a hostile takeover when Dixie Carter and her family own the private company. He stated that her father would have to be involved for such a thing to happen.

"You know, well I'd like to think so. I like the guy. I think he's has around a million with life experiences cause his path to get into the business is certainly…unique. To say the least. I always thought he was a real sharp guy. He had a great head for the business. So if he's given the opportunity to take over a leadership role or if he has the mindset to become a leader in that locker room; then he should be able to help him. He's a good man. I'm glad that he's back in the loop and I think that he has a lot to offer. He's just a really cool guy. And I'm happy for him." - Jim Ross discusses MVP
