There are rumors floating around that Mike Tenay could be leaving TNA, as his contract with the promotion expires at the end of 2015. Management replaced him at the announce table with Josh Mathews. Tenay ended up working backstage with the production team. The belief is that the two sides will move on from one another, and Tenay will focus on his sports betting podcast job.

While he would never publicly acknowledge his interest until he is contractually able to do so, the belief is that Mike Tenay would be very interested in joining Jeff Jarrett in GFW. The promotion still needs a lead commentator for when they start doing televised events. Some are under the belief that Tenay is not completely happy in TNA because he is now a producer instead of a commentator. Tenay was replaced by Josh Mathews this year.

The very first GFW pay per view will be taking place in a couple of weeks, so Jeff Jarrett has been working diligently to find a broadcasting partner for Jim Ross. They attempted to get Mike Tenay, but TNA turned that down because they do not want their employees to help out competing promotions. Jarrett and Ross then turned to Matt Striker, an underrated talker that was released from WWE back in June of 2013 when his contract expired.
