One of the biggest advertisers at Payback 2014 was Mountain Dew, and WWE made sure to let their fans know about it by having JBL, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole promoting the soft drink throughout the evening. Fans in attendance at the pay per view, however, noted that Lawler was actually drinking Diet Coke whenever the cameras were not turned on to him. The commentator kept it hidden for much of the broadcast.

A surprising buzz was created last night when fans made mention of Batista wearing blue ring gear at Payback 2014. At one point, it even become the top trend on Twitter, a fact that Michael Cole proudly boasted to fans. Batista was not nearly as amused, as he took to the social media site today to bash fans for focusing on the color of his outfit, as opposed to the tremendous performance that he, Randy Orton, Triple H, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns put on.

The TNA commentator announced that he was going to debut his own online radio show soon. The format will basically be the former world heavyweight champion talking about the daily topics in professional wrestling.

On Monday Night Raw, the commentators were instructed to take a few verbal jabs at Jim Ross. Rather than being upset at his former cohorts, Ross took to Twitter to tell fans to ease up on JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. He stated that they were simply doing their jobs and saying what they were told to say. The belief is that the orders came from Vince McMahon.

The friendship and business relationship between JBL and Michael Cole continues to grow, as the WWE commentators are now scheduled to compete in a fishing competition. On July 4, in Bermuda, where JBL has a residence, the two of them will be contestants in the world marlin championship. A television deal is being rumored for the event as well.

WWE commentator Michael Cole has suffered a death in the family. Thomas Coulthard, his father, passed away in Florida this week at the age of 74 after battling cancer for the last several years. Coulthard worked with the United States Trooper for more than a quarter of a century while living in New York.

While a lawsuit against WWE is still being pondered, Alberto Del Rio revealed that several employees, including wrestlers, were witnesses to the backstage incident that took place between he and Cody Barbierri. Of particular note, Del Rio pointed out that Jack Swagger was one of the wrestlers that saw the entire thing unfold. If a lawsuit takes place, then there is a chance that Swagger could be questioned.

In order to show support, MVP took his own time and money to travel to Ferguson to be part of the protest. While the TNA star was pleased by the show of solidarity in the community, he did note that there were a few people there who were making the situations worse. Last night, Jeff Jarrett was scheduled to work a match at TripleMania, which is the biggest pay per view by AAA. Unfortunately, though, he was not able to make it. Jarrett had some travel issues due to some bad weather in Texas. There is said to be no backstage heat towards the former world heavyweight champion because he did make the effort to try to get to Mexico for the show.

During an interview with Primera Noticias, Alberto Del Rio revealed some details about his release from WWE. He stated that while Vince McMahon did admonish him, he was also told to go back to work. Del Rio found out the following day that he was then given a suspension. Shortly afterwards, Triple H called and told him that he was being fired instead of just suspended.

As many are already aware, Konnan has been having issues with his hips over the last couple of years. It's the reason why he has been forced to stay away from the ring. The former WCW star revealed that he wants one final match after his next surgery. Since he is involved with AAA, the belief is that his match will be held for that promotion. As expected, WWE has instructed their performers to remain silent if they are asked about the backstage incident that led to the release of Alberto Del Rio. When asked by the media, Sheamus explicitly stated that he knew nothing of the situation, even though most everyone in the company is aware of what happened. Management does not want to run the risk of starting a legal battle with Del Rio.

Another speed bump has presented itself in the career of Shelton Benjamin. The former Intercontinental Champion has suffered a serious knee injury while working in Japan. He is expected to miss a couple of months of action because of the surgery. Benjamin was sidelined earlier in the year when he had surgery on his elbow, but he recovered much quicker than expected from that injury.

The camera crew for Total Divas was on hand this weekend to film the bridal shower for Eva Marie. Initially, some were under the belief that it was the actual wedding. Executives from the network were backstage at the recent taping of Impact Wrestling. While working a tag team match with Eddie Edwards at a TNA live event in Pennsylvania, Davey Richards suffered a serious leg injury. Upon being rushed to the hospital, it was discovered that he has a broken fibula. Richards is expected to be out of action for approximately 6 weeks, which means that TNA will need to figure out what they want to do with the tag team titles.

When Bound For Glory 2014 was announced, there were some concerns because New Japan was doing a show at the same venue on the same day as well. Dixie Carter and Great Muta no longer need to worry about that since NJPW has decided to cancel the event. No word yet on the cause behind the cancellation. There are some speculations that Jeff Jarrett, who was recently in Japan, might have had something to do with it.

A handful of them, including Road Dogg, took the time and made the effort to go watch his comedy show in Ventura. As if he really needed it, Hulk Hogan has gained more leverage with WWE when it comes to capitalizing on his name value. The special edition of the upcoming WWE 2K15 with his face attached to it has reportedly been sold out at a lot of retailers, even though the release date is still several weeks away. Hogan has been quite the asset to the company over the last year, and he more than likely will continue to cash in big checks from WWE.
