While it is not getting anywhere near the coverage that the record broken by Nikki Bella recently did, Seth Rollins has placed his name into the WWE record books. Having held the world heavyweight champion for 184 days, he is now the longest reigning titleholder that is also a Money in the Bank winner. Miz held the belt for 160 days, while Kane was champion for 154 days.

Earlier in the month, the internet wrestling community was surprised when Kane was revealed as a potential candidate to be the mystery partner for Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns at Night of Champions. Some more fuel was added to the fire today, as it has now been confirmed that the former world heavyweight champion is indeed backstage at the pay per view. His return is expected to take place soon.

In the main event of Payback, Seth Rollins successfully retained the world heavyweight championship by defeating Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton in a fatal four way match. Plenty of interference from Kane, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble throughout the match. A small reunion between the Shield got the audience really hyped up. In the end, Rollins used the Pedigree finishing move to finish off Orton.

On the surface, Seth Rollins defeated Randy Orton at Extreme Rules to retain the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Things might not be that way tomorrow on Monday Night Raw because the creative department made sure to make the ending as convoluted as possible. Orton hit the RKO, but it was on Kane instead of Rollins, who also hit the RKO as well. That leaves open the possibility for another rematch between the two performers.

For a while now, everyone knew that Kane was going to be given a match at Wrestlemania by WWE officials. We just did not know where on the card that would take place. A couple of ideas were penciled in and erased over the last several weeks, but it now appears that management has opted to throw the Big Red Machine into the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal. The former world heavyweight champion adds some credibility.
