In a rather interesting bit of note, Curtis Axel has been on quite the losing streak. He has not had a televised victory since the beginning of November. It took place during a match against the recently released Justin Gabriel on the Main Event. He is still being utilized on a regular basis, both on television and at live events because WWE loves that he is a solid veteran performer who always shows up for work and puts on decent matches consistently.

Some new speculations have surfaced about why Justin Gabriel decided to request his release from the WWE. Reports have surfaced that his removal from the Royal Rumble was the straw that broke the camel's back. The belief is that he was one of the performers who was informed by management ahead of time that they were being removed. Others were told during the night of the event, as plans were repeatedly changed.

Now that word has spread about his release from the company, a lot of wrestling fans have been wondering what led to Justin Gabriel leaving WWE. While he has yet to make a public statement in regards to the matter, the belief is that he simply wanted more freedom as a wrestler. Management rarely used him on television, and he was never featured in a prominent role over the last year. Gabriel was essentially just a filler performer.

Being in WWE was no longer a dream for Justin Gabriel. After weeks and weeks of debating it internally, he decided to make the move. Gabriel informed management that he was no longer interested in being with the company and wanted a release from his contract. The request was granted after a couple of days. While officials loved having him around as a reliable employee, they knew that he was not being used, so he was allowed to leave.
