When it comes to putting together dream matches, Pro Wrestling Syndicate occasionally knocks one out of the park. Their latest headline match features two very well known former WWE stars. Rob Van Dam and John Morrison will be facing one another for the very first time this weekend. For an independent wrestling show, that is a main event that is more of a draw than usual.

As expected, several familiar faces were at the invitation only funeral for Roddy Piper. Diamond Dallas Page was there, as the two formed quite the bond in WCW. Both Chavo Guerrero and his dad represented their family at the event. Lisa Marie Varon was also in attendance. Though they did not work together much, John Morrison was also there to pay his respect.

While everyone is keeping a positive attitude towards the future, there are doubts that season two of Lucha Underground is going to happen. John Morrison himself mentioned the possibility of the promotion going out of business during his recent podcast interview with Steve Austin. Morrison stated that he would look for work elsewhere in the industry if that were to happen.

During a recent podcast interview to promote Battleground, Seth Rollins decided to fire back at John Morrison, who feels that he is superior to the current WWE champion. Rollins stated that he has accomplished a lot more during his three year career with World Wrestling Entertainment than Morrison did during his entire stint with the promotion.

Earlier in the year, rumors popped up that Dolph Ziggler was going to leave WWE when his contract expired sometimes in 2015. The speculation is heating up again because Court Bauer, a former writer in the company, addressed the story. He stated that Ziggler could be following in the same path that John Morrison took. Morrison allowed his deal to expire because he was not getting a push.

At the Lucha Libre World Cup, TNA and Lucha Underground formed a partnership. John Morrison teamed up with Mr Anderson and Matt Hardy, all of whom were former WWE stars, during the trios tournament. Initially, the belief was that Anderson and Hardy would be teaming up with Drew Galloway since they all worked for the same company, but Galloway ended up being on the international team with El Mesias and Angelico instead.
