When a wrestler asks for time off, it is usually not a huge deal. However, when you have someone as hard working as John Cena, then it becomes a headline. Reports have now surfaced that the United States Heavyweight Champion has been asking WWE for time off since the summer. Apparently, he has some personal issues that he needs to deal with. No word yet on what is going on in his life, but it has to be a pretty thing.

For whatever reasons, WWE omitted the United States Heavyweight Champion from their advertisement for live events and episodes of Monday Night Raw for the next couple of weeks. That has led people to believe that he is going to be off the road for a while.

In case you're wondering when John Cena is going to get another run with the world heavyweight championship, a lot of that will depend upon how WWE rebuilds Roman Reigns. If he cannot recapture enough popularity to bear the burden of being the top star in the promotion, then management will have no choice but to resort to Cena, who has been extremely reliable over the years.

By putting the United States Heavyweight Championship on John Cena, WWE made the belt relevant again. They more than likely will be going back to that well at Night of Champions, as the belief is that Cena will be taking back the belt. Management wants to do that so that fans will believe that it is possible for Seth Rollins to lose the world heavyweight championship later on in the night to Sting.

Despite suffering some sort of injury a couple of days earlier, John Cena continued to work matches at the live events over the weekend. The former world heavyweight champion has a history of working through injuries as much as he possibly can because he genuinely does not want to disappoint the paying audience. It also saves WWE from having to offer refunds to fans who paid to see Cena.

Since he is still the top draw in the company, WWE collectively gasps whenever John Cena gets hurt or appears to get hurt. Over the weekend, the former world heavyweight champion worked a match against Kevin Owens at a live event. While performing his modified sunset flip, he appeared to have suffered some sort of injury. Reports are saying that it could be a neck or nose injury. Cena managed to finish the match.

On Monday Night Raw, we found out that Seth Rollins is going to be defending the WWE Heavyweight Championship against Sting at Night of Champions. Management still has not made an official statement on the status of the United States Heavyweight Championship yet, but the belief is that Rollins will be doing double duty at the pay per view. John Cena is a candidate to get a title rematch that night.

To promote his Straight Outta Compton movie, Ice Cube went on ESPN and critiqued celebrity rappers. When asked about John Cena, the founding member of the NWA stated that the wrestling star was a fool but an impressive one. Cube also mentioned that Cena had a little bit of LL Cool in him. The rapper feels that the former world heavyweight champion needs to be a bit wilder with his music.

In fact, Flair said that he is rooting for it because he is a big fan of Cena and feels that he deserves the honor more than anyone else.
