On Monday Night Raw, WWE set forth the story line where Lana was dumped by Rusev, only to fall into the arms of Dolph Ziggler. The two shared a kiss in the middle of the ring that generated a really good reaction from the audience. The reason for adding an interesting story is because the creative department wanted to protect the Russian sympathizer because it will feel like a bit of a drop to go from feuding with John Cena to feuding with anyone else.

The reason that he decided to respond to the story was because it was spreading around the internet wrestling community rather rapidly.

John Cena and Rusev were originally scheduled to be approximately 1100 miles away from the pay per view, so the changes were necessary.
