Rumors spread on Thursday that Samoa Joe met with WWE officials to negotiate a developmental contract. It is now looking more and more likely that it did happen, as Jim Ross himself has confirmed that he saw Joe earlier in the day. Ross is in Orlando, where the performance center happens to be, to tape a show with Mick Foley for the Network. The belief is that Joe will sign a deal and start with NXT around June of 2015.

He revealed that he was so miserable working in WWE that he asked Vince McMahon to release him from his contract so that he could head down to WCW. Michaels really wanted to be with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall at the time. McMahon, however, refused to let him go because he could not afford to lose another big star.

In addition to him helping out Jeff Jarrett at the first GFW pay per view, management is also still blocking their former commentator from having contracted performers doing his podcast interviews. A fan recently asked Ross if he had any plans on interviewing Kane, and the hall of fame announcer revealed that he was still not allowed to talk to their performers.

He stated that he did have contact with Jim Ross and Vince McMahon, but he did not like the way that the meeting went. McMahon still offered him a contract as a performer. The former world heavyweight champion then decided to contact Eric Bischoff and sign with WCW instead.

While many are under the assumption that Jim Ross is going to be signing on with GFW because he has a deal to work their first pay per view in Japan, that is simply not the case. As of right now, Ross and Jeff Jarrett have a one time deal. The two sides are expected to see how the promotion unfolds before making a contractual commitment to one another. A lot will depend on how well things work out with the New Japan show that is taking place in a few days.

The very first GFW pay per view will be taking place in a couple of weeks, so Jeff Jarrett has been working diligently to find a broadcasting partner for Jim Ross. They attempted to get Mike Tenay, but TNA turned that down because they do not want their employees to help out competing promotions. Jarrett and Ross then turned to Matt Striker, an underrated talker that was released from WWE back in June of 2013 when his contract expired.
