Not wanting to give up the spotlight, Jerry Lawler has decided to risk his own health by stepping into the ring at an independent wrestling event this past weekend. He worked a match for Maryland Championship Wrestling on Saturday evening. Lawler teamed up with the heavyweight champion of the promotion in a handicap tag team match against three opponents. Since he is a big star, the local guys were forced to do the job.

After spending almost a week in the hospital, Jerry Lawler has been released. The legendary commentator had been sideline by a case of diverticulitis. He was actually released on the same day as Monday Night Raw, but he was not healthy enough to make it to the show. WWE is giving him some more time away from the commentating booth. Word has it that Lawler is expected to miss at least another episode before returning.

Health is now very much an issue for Jerry Lawler in his old age. The legendary performer has been hospitalized this week for diverticulitis, the same life threatening condition that caused Brock Lesnar to retire prematurely from UFC and return to WWE. As many of you already know, Lawler was also hospitalized not too long ago when he suffered a heart attack on Monday Night Raw. No word yet on whether or not he will be missing time from work.

Those that watched Monday Night Raw, heard Jerry Lawler calling Christian a retired performer. For those that are not aware, it was not an error, as the former world heavyweight champion has now been declared an inactive member of the WWE roster. The company cannot risk him having any more concussions, as they are concerned about his long term health. He is, however, still under contract for approximately another year, so he will be around.
