During a recent interview, Jerry Lawler was asked which show that he preferred to be a commentator for. He surprisingly mentioned Smackdown, even though Monday Night Raw has long been considered the flagship show. Lawler pointed out that there was a lot of less pressure when you're working the secondary show. He stated that doing a two hour taped show is a whole lot easier than doing a live three hour production.

When WWE creates a DVD for a performer, they generally allow them some creative input. With Jerry Lawler, he is receiving a whole lot of input. The longtime commentator is being allowed to pick and choose which matches that he wants on the feature. Management is even paying him for the rights to use the footage, since Lawler owns most of the content from the Memphis territory. This is definitely a special case scenario.

When Vince McMahon hates you, your future in WWE does not seem very bright. Byron Saxton might not be around for much longer, it seems. McMahon was said to be furious backstage when Saxton was sent out to do commentary on Monday Night Raw alone. Many felt that this was his opportunity to grab the brass ring, and Saxton failed. It got so bad that McMahon had to send Jerry Lawler out there to breathe life into the commentating team.

To further sell the kayfabe injury suffered by Michael Cole at the hands of Brock Lesnar during Monday Night Raw, WWE has decided to keep the announcer off of the commentating table for the next episode of Smackdown. The on air explanation is that he needs surgery. Tom Phillips is replacing him and will join Jerry Lawler and Byron Saxton at the booth. No confirmation yet, but the belief is that Cole will be back for Monday Night Raw.
