A lot of names have been speculated as being potential members of GFW when they start doing television shows. Jim Ross has had his name attached for quite some time now because he's the hottest free agent commentator in the business. The speculations about him being in negotiations with Jeff Jarrett have finally been confirmed by Ross himself. In his latest blog, he reveals that he has been talking to Jarrett about signing a contract.

Since he is having a bit of a hard time trying to secure a television contract with one of the national networks, Jeff Jarrett is said to be pitching the idea of doing a test run. GFW would run a super show that would feature talent from AAA, New Japan, the independent wrestling circuit in the US and international stars from the many business deals that he has set up overseas. Thus far, none of the networks have expressed interest in that.

Some big news is expected to come out of Jeff Jarrett soon, and the belief is that he will announce a television taping for GFW soon. There are already talks that the first show could be done in late May or early June. At the very latest, they will take place in July. The speculation here is that Jarrett is coming close to signing a television contract with an unnamed network. He has met with several companies to gauge interest in his product.

While he would never publicly acknowledge his interest until he is contractually able to do so, the belief is that Mike Tenay would be very interested in joining Jeff Jarrett in GFW. The promotion still needs a lead commentator for when they start doing televised events. Some are under the belief that Tenay is not completely happy in TNA because he is now a producer instead of a commentator. Tenay was replaced by Josh Mathews this year.

A name that Jeff Jarrett would love to have attached to GFW is none other than Jerry Lawler. The two of them have a very long history together. They worked with one another in the Memphis territory decades ago. Lawler would bring instant credibility to the promotion if he were one of the voices at the commenting table. Jarrett will more than likely contact Lawler, but it is highly unlikely that a contract will be offered at this point.

Since TNA started signing contracts with wrestlers again, it seems a bit surprising that there have not been a lot of news in regards to the company contacting Chris Sabin. It is being said that the former world heavyweight champion is not interested in making a return at this point because he wants to wait and see what Jeff Jarrett does with GFW. The belief is that a lot of free agents are doing the same thing as well.

Some speculation on the future of Matt Striker have surfaced. There are those who are wondering if the commentator is going to jump ship from Lucha Underground to GFW when the latter picks up their television contract. Striker has a really good relationship with Jeff Jarrett. The two of them worked together on a New Japan pay per view earlier this year. No word yet on what his current contract states, so things are up in the air.

Since we have not seen a GFW announcement recently, there are many fans who are under the assumption that Jeff Jarrett is struggling to launch his new promotion. That does not appear to be the case. Even thought the pay per view took place on January 4, Jarrett has been busy finishing up the post show promotional work. He is now expected to focus again on finding a television contract and securing some talent for his roster.

While Lucha Underground has been actively seeking well known talent to join their roster and increase their presence in the United States, they are having trouble signing performers. Aside from Alberto Del Rio, a lot of wrestlers are holding off on signing a contract with the promotion. One of the reasons being speculated for that right now is the fact that a lot of people are waiting to see what Jeff Jarrett can do with his new GFW promotion this year.
