Jay Lethal

Jay Lethal staying with ROH

Since WWE had been collecting as much talent as possible, rumors of Jay Lethal finally signing with the promotion started to swirl. Well, those can be put to rest for at least another year, as the ROH World Heavyweight Champion has signed a contract extension to stay exactly where he is. The belief is that Lethal would much rather defend the world title around the globe instead of being forced to start over again in NXT, the developmental brand.

Ricky Morton

Matt Jackson world title shot

In a very interesting move, ROH has decided to give Matt Jackson a chance at their world heavyweight championship on Saturday night at a live event in Duluth, Georgia. Jackson will be challenge Jay Lethal for the title that night. Matt normally works tag team matches with his brother, but Ring of Honor management wants to see how well he can do as a singles competitor, much like what the NWA did with Ricky Morton and Ric Flair.

Styles challenging Lethal

A champion is only as good as the contenders that he works programs with. Jay Lethal is about to get quite the boost as the ROH Heavyweight Champion. AJ Styles won a fatal four way match this week, and he is now the top challenger for the belt. No word yet on when the match will take place, but it should do wonders for Lethal and his profile. Lethal is more than likely going to hold on to the belt.

ROH to Japan

Thanks in large part to their partnership with New Japan, ROH is going to be heading to Japan in the early part of 2016. The two sides have been in negotiations for the past couple of months. The deal would mean that performers like Jay Lethal are going to be starring in a couple of shows in that country. This is a big step forward for a promotion that needs more exposure.

Jeff Jarrett

Jay Lethal to GFW

While he has been given a really solid push over the last year, there is still a chance that Jay Lethal could opt to leave for GFW when the opportunity arises. He maintains a good business relationship with Jeff Jarrett, who may end up receiving a better television deal for his promotion than the one that Ring of Honor has. It is being said that Lethal would love to perform for a much bigger audience. ROH still is not shown in every state.
