The former world heavyweight champion stated that he has been cleared by a respectable doctor and that he is healthy enough to the point where he could work the main event of Summerslam this weekend.

Last we heard, Blackjack Mulligan was having some major health issues. He suffered a heart attack before he could go in for brain surgery. Apparently, the legendary performer and grandfather of Bray Wyatt is doing much better nowadays, as he was reportedly spotted attending a baseball game. No word yet on whether or not he has had the brain surgery to alleviate the pain.

Blackjack Mulligan health issues

Things are not looking too good for the health of Blackjack Mulligan. He was scheduled to undergo brain surgery to alleviate some pain that he has been experiencing. Unfortunately, though, that had to be put on hold as the legendary wrestler ended up suffering a heart attack first. Mulligan is in critical condition, but he is awake.

There are rumors floating around right now that Scott Hall has signed a contract to be a member of the GFW roster. That is not true. The speculation arose when the promotion revealed that the former Intercontinental Champion has signed on to do an appearance for them in June. While it is true that Hall has stated that he would not be opposed to working another match now that he is somewhat healthy again, he will never be a full time guy again.

During a recent interview the Des Moines Register, Seth Rollins revealed the reason why he chose Davenport, Iowa as his hometown. He stated that it enables him to disconnect from the world when he is not on the road with WWE. He stated that since it is such a small town, he can separate himself from the character that he plays on television. Rollin believes that doing that is crucial for his health, as some performers remain in character at all times.

Not wanting to give up the spotlight, Jerry Lawler has decided to risk his own health by stepping into the ring at an independent wrestling event this past weekend. He worked a match for Maryland Championship Wrestling on Saturday evening. Lawler teamed up with the heavyweight champion of the promotion in a handicap tag team match against three opponents. Since he is a big star, the local guys were forced to do the job.

Verne Gagne

Verne Gagne passes away

Some very sad news to announce. Late on Monday night, it was revealed that Verne Gagne has passed away at the age of 89. No word yet on the official cause of death, but the AWA legend had been battling Alzheimer's disease for the past couple of years. He made news back in 2009 when an altercation that he had at a health care facility ended up causing the death of his roommate. Gagne was rarely seen in public over the past year.

Extreme Rules replacement match

WWE revealed that Daniel Bryan might not be healthy enough to work his scheduled match against Wade Barrett at Extreme Rules on Sunday night. A replacement match was being discussed, and rumors are now saying that it will be a match between Bray Wyatt and Ryback. If Bryan is healthy enough to work, then the pay per view proceeds as normal. Wyatt would then get his much needed big win at Payback the following month.

While everyone is definitely concerned about his health, many backstage in WWE are questioning Daniel Bryan for his decision to not undergo additional surgery to repair his neck. For whatever reasons, he has opted against doing that. Bryan recently stated that age could be catching up to him because he feels that it has taken him longer to get back into a groove this time around. He is still expected to work Extreme Rules, however.
