The belief backstage right now is that Cody Rhodes and Goldust will be splitting up at Elimination Chamber 2014, where the brothers are expected to be involved in a match for the WWE tag titles. A match between the two is still penciled in for Wrestlemania 30.
In an attempt to steal the show, Cody Rhodes climbed to the top of the steel cage during a live event in Madison Square Garden this week and delivered a flying moonsault during a tag team match featuring Goldust, Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger.
"Oh he got me! Let me tell you how it was supposed to go down. First of all that was a live TV taping so whatever happened happened. So me and Goldust went over this s*** over and over again during the pre-tape. I told him when we did mouth to mouth don't touch my lips put your hand over my mouth and do it to your hand, nobody is going to know. The camera won't be that close up to where anybody would see that and we worked out the angle with the camera man and everything. So I'm lying there and Goldust thought it would be ah if he did it. So I'm lying there and the part is coming up and I feel this mother f***** lips and man I lost it!"
While some fans have been wanting to see him returning to the Dustin Rhodes character, Goldust has revealed that there are no such plans in place. WWE officials feel that the Goldust character is much more recognizable and marketable.
Cody Rodes and Goldust are being praised backstage in WWE because of the way that they have been handling themselves during media appearances and making the company look really good to the mainstream audience.
Dustin Rhodes has been publicly campaigning for WWE to bring him back, so that he can work a pay per view match against his younger brother Cody Rhodes, but it is a move that their legendary father Dusty Rhodes does not feel will be happening any time soon.
