When WWE announced that the King of the Ring was making a return, many were under the assumption that it would elevate one of the performers because it was one of the best gimmicks that the company has ever produced. Turns out, that is not the case. Reports have surfaced that Wade Barrett is going to be dropping the king gimmick and bringing back the Bad News Barrett gimmick instead.

While promoting his new book, JTG agreed to do an interview recently, and he was asked about how black performers were treated in WWE. He stated that the creative department needed to have more diversity among the writers because they simply cannot come up with up to date characters and gimmicks for black performers. He feels that is a market that is severely neglected.

Axel and Sandow drop gimmick

Due to the controversy that was created by Hulk Hogan this week, Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow are being forced to drop their impersonation gimmicks, which was a key selling point for the duo. During a live event over the weekend, the two of them still were a tag team but they were dressed in generic clothing. They will more than likely be kept off of television until something can be found for them.

For the longest time, the internet wrestling community had been yearning for the return of the King of the Ring, as it was one of the most popular gimmicks that WWE has ever done. It finally made a return this year, and Vince McMahon needed a lot of convincing before giving it the green light. It has now been revealed that he actually hates tournament. The belief is that Wrestlemania 4 did one and produced lackluster numbers.

Vince McMahon is still desperately wanting to boost the number of subscribers for the WWE Network, so he has decided to bring back one of the best gimmicks that his company has ever created. The King of the Ring tournament is making a comeback, and it is starting on the next episode of Monday Night Raw. The preliminary rounds will be held on television, but the semifinals and finals will be shown on Tuesday on their online video service.

When Dolph Ziggler posted a vague message that hinted of his impending departure from WWE, that created quite a buzz with fans. He decided to do it again on Sunday morning. Ziggler posted through social media that he has been given bad gimmicks by the company in the past (caddie and cheerleader), but he overcame that and found success. He hinted that Extreme Rules might be the last pay per view that he works for the company.

Miz and Sandow split

Instead of continuing to milk one of the best gimmicks in all of professional wrestling, WWE has decided to pull the trigger on the split of the Miz and Damien Sandow. On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw the former firing the latter as his stunt double but keeping him around as his personal assistant. The match between the two could take place as soon as Fast Lane, but there are some backstage wanting it to take place at Wrestlemania.

An interesting point has been made about Josh Mathews being able to use the same moniker in TNA as he did in WWE. Generally, the latter corporation likes to copyright names and gimmicks that they come up with, so that they can control the capitalizing. The belief here is that management never bothered to file the paperwork to keep ownership of the handle. For those that do not know, the commentator's real name is Josh Lomberger.

Ascension copying Road Warriors

Shortly after they were shown in vignettes on Monday Night Raw and Smackdown, the Ascension started receiving some heat from the internet wrestling community. Many feel that Viktor and Konnor are copying the style that the legendary Road Warriors used for years. WWE officials are aware of this, and there are speculations that they could tweak up the gimmicks a little bit to give them a better chance at connecting with the audience.
