Here is an interesting tidbit on Blackjack Mulligan. Prior to forming their legendary tag team, Mulligan started copying the gimmick of Blackjack Lanza. Shortly after he started doing it, Mulligan contacted Lanza for permission. Lanza told Mulligan that he stole his name, his look and his finishing move. Lanza then asked Mulligan if he wanted to take his manager, Bobby Heenan, as well.

Undertaker winning at Summerslam

One of the top Summerslam spoilers heading into this weekend is that Undertaker will be walking out of the pay per view with a victory. Management wants the two of them to have a third match in this particular series. WWE might even have them working a gimmick match in the final bout. Something like a Hell in a Cell would prove to be quite the draw for the promotion.

When WWE announced that the King of the Ring was making a return, many were under the assumption that it would elevate one of the performers because it was one of the best gimmicks that the company has ever produced. Turns out, that is not the case. Reports have surfaced that Wade Barrett is going to be dropping the king gimmick and bringing back the Bad News Barrett gimmick instead.

For approximately three months, Vince McMahon met with Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E Langston once a week to discuss a gimmick for their stable. It has now been revealed that McMahon was under the impression that the over the top baby face gimmick would go over with the audience in a huge way. McMahon was said to have been disappointed when they had to turn heel.

Rumors are floating around right now that Undertaker may be bringing back the biker gimmick for his upcoming match at Summerslam against Brock Lesnar. However, the belief is that the speculation was started by people who really are wishing to see the character one more time. WWE has long wanted the Phenom to finish his career with the dead man gimmick.

JTG on WWE

While promoting his new book, JTG agreed to do an interview recently, and he was asked about how black performers were treated in WWE. He stated that the creative department needed to have more diversity among the writers because they simply cannot come up with up to date characters and gimmicks for black performers. He feels that is a market that is severely neglected.

Thanks to that special on ESPN, there is a lot more support backstage for Adam Rose. However, management has not pushed him because they simply do not feel that his gimmick connects with the audience. There are now rumors floating around that the creative department might have him change up his character and be the newest member of the Wyatt Family.

Due to the controversy that was created by Hulk Hogan this week, Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow are being forced to drop their impersonation gimmicks, which was a key selling point for the duo. During a live event over the weekend, the two of them still were a tag team but they were dressed in generic clothing. They will more than likely be kept off of television until something can be found for them.

Brodus Clay bashes John Cena

Earlier this month, John Cena mentioned the Funkasaurus gimmick during an episode of Monday Night Raw. Brodus Clay was told of that, and he fired back a bit. He stated that the only difference between Cena and PN News is that Cena was given a push. In case you aren't aware, News was a lower card performer in WCW that had a white rapper gimmick during the early 1990s.
