Survivor Series 2009 Discussion Thread

Survivor Series is to be the next pay-per-view held by World Wrestling Entertainment. This will be the 23rd annual Survivor Series, and will be held in the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.


The following matches have been confirmed for this pay-per-view.

• World Heavyweight Championship Match: The Undertaker (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Bigshow
• WWE Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
• Batista vs. Rey Mysterio

I didn't watch RAW tonight so I may have missed something, but Big Show? I'm assuming Punk isn't fighting him because he'll be leading one of the Survivor Series teams, although I initially thought Jericho would captain it.

I'm assuming Punk isn't fighting him because he'll drop back into the midcard. He might be on a SS team behind Jericho if they are doing SvR again, or maybe an IC title match against Morrison.

That's a shame. Although, Punk versus Morrison would be very entertaining and would hopefully bring a bit of attention back to the IC title.

The triple threat looks good, but I think we all know who's going to win.

I can't see Big Show being involved in a feud with Undertaker for too long (or at least I hope so).

Jericho would do a good job as captain, anything he does just works.

Really weird seeing Big Show challenging Taker IMO.

Also the triple threat can be potentially good. I was actually hoping the could build up Swagger in these next few weeks to challenge Cena but Ih guess we could probably still see it at the Rumble (it'd be weird to see them in a TLC match)

Also hoping Ziggler can at least secure himself a spot on 1 of the SS teams.

Aw man, I haven't seen Raw yet so I don't know how it's come about but even after I watch it tomorrow I doubt I'll be excited about Undertaker vs Big Show. We saw it last year (I think we did anyways, I recall Show turning heel on Taker but I don't actually remember if they had a match) so I don't really want to see it again.

I'm so glad they've got HBK in the WWE title match though. If it was Cena vs Triple H I would have put my foot through every television screen and computer in the house so there was no way I would be able to watch it, at least the HBK equation throws a much needed new element into the title picture.

From memory I think they had several plus they were often involved in dark steel cage matches at shows also apparently.

As DX especially. The few times they're forced to face each other IMO are pretty interesting (2008 Elimination Chamber comes to mind) and to me under those circumstances it'll especially interesting to see how they react with one another esp. with what's on the line.

Avery that rivalry spanned four PPVs and they had a bunch of matches on Smackdown as well, really shows how dull that story was

Survivor Series may have actually become my least favourite show of the year, I hate how its done now and the teams are just thrown together randomly tribrandedly. There hasn't been a really good Survivor Series since 2002 in my opinion, and that show didn't even have any of the SS tag matches
