Yea, the whole firing face/heels for appearing together thing is a little extreme, but I totally get where he's coming from.

What he was trying to say wasn't that there shouldn't be gimmicks, or all gimmicks have to be real people, he was saying wrestlers and their gimmicks can't be too completely different people. Hence the line "if you don't believe what you're saying, no-one else will", that's why JWC's examples were so terrible. The Rock. Undertaker, Mankind and Raven? Those gimmicks could have only worked with the person that used them, which is what Cornette is trying to say. Goldust is another example, yes it's a silly and over the top character, but the only reason it ever worked was because of the personality of the man using it. I can't think of anyone else who would be able to pull that gimmick off.

There's a new article up. I haven't read it yet because TNA is on currently, but I'll read it later tonight.

He's answered some of the fans questions:

Quote:
What is your opinion on Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff signing with TNA?
Quote:
Why do you believe Ring of Honor is, as you've said, the "wrestling of the future"?
Quote:
What is your opinion on the WWE Hall of Fame and would you accept an induction?
Quote:
If you could have managed any tag team, past or present, instead of the Midnight Express, who would you have picked?

I really loved the answer he gave for the ROH question, it was pretty much word for word why over the past few months ROH has overtaken both WWE and TNA as my favourite company. A wrestling company doesn't need all the flashy lights and million and one cameras and storylines that spiral out of control, it's all about the two-three-four-six-however many wrestlers in the ring, and who is going to emerge victorious. Both WWE and TNA seem to have shied away from that, whilst ROH sticks very closely to it and to take a small extract from the answer: "They (ROH) have no special effects budget, so instead their special effects are great matches, and who wins and loses is presented as important, so the fans actually CARE."

I also read the commentary on TNA and Russo, which was a very interesting read. I really love this website, lol.

I love it too, other than the fact that before last week he hadn't updated it for like 3 months.

But he promised to start updating it more frequently, so that fixes the only problem I had with it.

For the first time I actually went and read that stuff.

I still hold my opinion of guys like him, Lance Storm, etc.

They bash, bash, bash, but I remember when he was happily employed with TNA. He was going on and on and on about how great the product was in it's current form. What a strong company it is, and now that things have changed, suddenly RoH is the greatest wrestling company in the US.

Also, we'll see about his new love, RoH.

Just like all of the promotions in the past that have offered nothing but the wrestling. When you do that you become weaker versions of other forms of sport and now that UFC is out there, you can't overtake that.
TNA was a lot more wrestling-only too and the company almost didn't make it out of year 2. They all talk about how sports entertainment is run by WWE, but the truth of the matter is, American pro wrestling IS the WWE style. It cannot be avoided now, so you've got to go with some sort of system similar otherwise you won't get the backing and / or deals that you need.

If RoH gets a legit television deal, you'll see. They'll do the same thing that TNA did when they expand. They'll have to.

If they end up expanding then let them do it if that's what they have to do to survive, but right now it's so refreshing to see a company that relies heavily on wrestling and doesn't bother about all the other stuff (partly because they don't have the money that allows them to lol). The focus solely on wrestling got even my mum completely hooked on ROH, she's stated too that she prefers the ROH style over the WWE and TNA styles because the ROH style is a lot more interesting and fun to watch and isn't smothered by bright lights and a million and one fire works and everything else (and my mum's been a mild WWE fan for the majority of her life. As in she's always had an interest in the WWE wrestling but hasn't been interested in watching religiously or anything, but she's now chucked that out the window for a company she hadn't even heard of before March).

I'm just lovin' the direction ROH has taken and I'll cherish that until they are forced to change it.

Cornette makes a great point about how the WWE Hall of Fame is lame for not having guys like Thesz inducted in there.
