During a podcast interview with Chris Jericho, Batista revealed that he has some lingering backstage heat towards Vince McMahon over an incident that happened a couple of years ago. The former world heavyweight champion was fined $100,000 by WWE because he purposely cut himself during a match to draw blood. Batista felt that the amount was unfairly high, and he noted that was the day when he knew that things would never be the same with WWE.

Angle stated that he initiated the brawl with Lesnar because Lesnar was telling the other wrestlers that Angle was too small for him to wrestle. The incident was more of an amateur wrestling match than a fist fight.
