The win took place about a minute into the second round when Lashley was able to lock on a rear naked choke hold. The victory is expected to be heavily hyped up by TNA to bring a little more credibility to their championship.

Back in 2000, the world of professional wrestling was saddened by the death of Masakazu Fukuda. While working a tournament match, Fukuda was hit by a flying elbow drop from Katsuyori Shibata. The blow proved to be fatal, as Fukuda had to be taken to the hospital, where he died a couple of days later. New Japan finished the tournament and dedicated the event in his honor.
