When WWE creates a DVD for a performer, they generally allow them some creative input. With Jerry Lawler, he is receiving a whole lot of input. The longtime commentator is being allowed to pick and choose which matches that he wants on the feature. Management is even paying him for the rights to use the footage, since Lawler owns most of the content from the Memphis territory. This is definitely a special case scenario.

When the news initially surfaced that Owen Hart was going to be getting his very first DVD special, the belief was that his widow signed off on it. Apparently, that was wrong. Martha Hart has spoken out against WWE for going through with the tribute despite her expressing to them that it was against her wishes. She has urged true fans of her husband to avoid purchasing the item, so that management knows that it is wrong to capitalize on his legacy.

It looks like we are one step closer to seeing Owen Hart in the WWE Hall of Fame. The company has announced that they are working on a DVD that will document his career and life. That was not done earlier because his widow Martha Hart did not want anything to do with the company because she was understandably bitter towards the company for causing the death of her husband. She gave them approval to make the documentary.

Since the company now has him under contract, the smart move would be to utilize Sting as much as possible to get a return on the investment that WWE spent on him. That is a big reason why a DVD is being discussed at the moment. The WCW legend is expected to be heavily involved with the project, and he is reportedly interested in having a lot of say in how it is presented. Management already has a good amount of footage since they own the library.

Since WWE is promoting a DVD on Booker T that focuses on how he turned his life around, there are rumors floating around that the company might do one for Sean Waltman. As of right now, that biography does not appear to be a priority. He has been involve in plenty of memorable moments, so there would be more than enough footage. However, Waltman did go through some really dark times that should not be in the spotlight.

There is a recently released movie called Russell Madness. It is about a dog that becomes a professional wrestler. John Morrison has himself a part in the film as The Hammer, who happens to be the nemesis of the canine star. The former WWE star will be joining John Ratzenberger of Cheers fame and Charles Robinson of Night Court fame. The movie is currently being shown in a limited amount of theaters, but a DVD should follow.

Out of all the ECW names that were rumored for the Royal Rumble this past weekend, a name that was heavily pushed backstage was the Blue Meanie. A lot of people in the company feel that he was popular enough to receive a very warm ovation from the heavily opinionated Philadelphia crowd. It would have also made sense because the former bWo member was going to be hosting a DVD release with Stevie Richards for WWE in the coming weeks.

Good news if you're a big fan of Booker T. WWE is currently working on a DVD for him, and it should be released some time this year. As is usually the case, many of his best matches, both in this company and in WCW, will be heavily featured. Management is going to try to separate this from the other features by spending some time on his troubled youth. The feeling is that it might become a motivational tool the company can push.
