Rumors have it that one of the ideas being floated around backstage in WWE is for Samoa Joe and Finn Balor to successfully win the Dusty Rhodes memorial tournament. That would then lead to Joe somehow challenging Balor for the NXT Championship in a friendly feud. That particular match would more than likely be the biggest draw for the developmental promotion at this point in time.

When Finn Balor first showed up in WWE, Dusty Rhodes told him that his in ring performance was already at top level. The legendary star wanted Balor to work on his speaking skills. An idea being tossed around backstage is to have him paired up with Paul Heyman when he finally gets promoted to the main roster. Heyman and Balor have mutual respect for the abilities of the other.

During a recent interview, CM Punk revealed that Dusty Rhodes was not one of the people that he had backstage heat with in WWE. In fact, the former world heavyweight champion revealed that they actually had a really good relationship. Even when he left the company, Rhodes would still send personal text messages to him.

In the second match of Fast Lane, Goldust was able to get the pin fall victory over his brother Cody Rhodes, whose loss was protected because it seemed that the three count came out of nowhere. WWE was hoping for a better reaction from the audience, but the story hasn't been told well enough to get the crowd to invest themselves. In a backstage segment after the match, Stardust assaulted his older brother in front of Dusty Rhodes.
