To capitalize on the Wrestlemania hype, Jim Ross did a one man show in northern California this week. He brought along a special guest, and the audience was pretty excited to see him. Samoa Joe made a special appearances on the show. The two of them had a discussion onstage, and there was a strong indication that the former world heavyweight champion would be joining the WWE developmental program in the very near future.

Earlier in the week, Samoa Joe was spotted hanging out with other wrestlers at Walemania. It's not all fun and games, however. The former world heavyweight champion worked a match for ROH, where he challenged Jay Briscoe for their version of the heavyweight championship. Briscoe successfully retained, but that does not come as a surprise to those who believe that Joe will be signing up with the WWE developmental program soon.

The wrestlers in NXT got a nice little treat last night at their event. They got to hang out a little bit with Shawn Michaels, who watched the show from the backstage area instead of being in the audience like Jim Ross. While WWE would love for Michaels to sign on as a trainer for the developmental program, he simply has not expressed a desire to take on that job full time. He doesn't mind going in once in a while to provide pointers, however.

Based on talks backstage this past week, it looks like Finn Balor is going to be cutting in line. Rather than going through the process of NXT and carrying the heavyweight championship first, the front office is talking about spring boarding him up to the main roster shortly after Wrestlemania. The belief is that when he signed with the company, Balor was assured that he would not be stuck in developmental for too long of a period of time.

Since word going around is that Samoa Joe is willing to go through the NXT program in order to get to the WWE main roster, some attention has been turned back to AJ Styles. Many want to know if he would be willing to do the same thing, especially since his friend is doing so. As of right now, that appears to be very unlikely, as the amount of money he would have to sacrifice by leaving New Japan for the developmental program would be quite steep.

It was long rumored that WWE was going to use NXT performers at Wrestlemania before the front office decided to load up the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal with known wrestlers on the main roster. Well, it has now been revealed that one of the spots will be given to a developmental wrestler. During Axxess, a tournament will be held with Adrian Neville, Finn Balor, Hideo Itami and Tyler Breeze to determine the spot filler.
