A film critic for the Los Angeles Times had something very interesting to say. He compared the performances of the three WWE stars who have portrayed the lead role. The critic stated that Dean Ambrose did a better job in the movie than Randy Orton did in the first sequel. However, he also stated that Ambrose did not nearly have the talent and screen presence of John Cena, who starred in the original movie.

When a potential feud was in the works between the two, Dean Ambrose and Mick Foley decided to work everyone into thinking that there was legitimate backstage heat between the two. They did such a great job that even a few of the WWE superstars fell for it. Mark Henry, in particular, was one of those who felt that Ambrose was disrespecting a legend like Foley. Henry even offered to fight Ambrose backstage as a sign of respect towards his longtime friend.
