While fans waited until the day of the pay per view to find out, WWE had actually made the decision to remove Daniel Bryan from Extreme Rules on Friday. The belief is that management opted against revealing that immediately because they wanted interest on the show to remain as high as possible. Many were looking forward to seeing Bryan work the event because that would mean that his injury was not as severe as initially believed.

While the company is refusing to reveal details, rumors are floating around that Daniel Bryan was sent home early from the tour of Europe because he suffered a concussion while working a match against Sheamus. Disco Inferno had some strong feelings about the matter. Through social media, he stated that the Celtic Warrior doesn't really now how to work properly in the ring if he is constantly giving concussions to his opponents.

In a rather response, when asked who he would like to face at the big pay per view next year, Bryan mentioned Shinsuke Nakamura. The WWE star revealed that he used to be roommates with the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion when both of them were training at the Antonio Inoki dojo.

In a nice little swerve on Monday Night Raw, Daniel Bryan convinced WWE fans that he might be retiring as an in ring performer, thanks in part to a simple social media message, before delightfully surprising the audience with the announcement that he would be making his return at the Royal Rumble. There had been legitimate concerns backstage over his health, as many were under the belief that he would walk away like Edge did to ensure his long term health.
