Due to the controversy that was created by Hulk Hogan this week, Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow are being forced to drop their impersonation gimmicks, which was a key selling point for the duo. During a live event over the weekend, the two of them still were a tag team but they were dressed in generic clothing. They will more than likely be kept off of television until something can be found for them.

Before he started doing his gimmick of mimicking Miz, Damien Sandow had a character that was very similar to what Lanny Poffo used to do in WWE. Some fans were critical of that. During a recent interview, Poffo came to the defense of Sandow. He actually went out of his way to point out that Sandow was one of the nicest wrestlers he met during Wrestlemania week. Poffo said that Sandow did not steal his gimmick. He is fine with it.

Instead of continuing to milk one of the best gimmicks in all of professional wrestling, WWE has decided to pull the trigger on the split of the Miz and Damien Sandow. On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw the former firing the latter as his stunt double but keeping him around as his personal assistant. The match between the two could take place as soon as Fast Lane, but there are some backstage wanting it to take place at Wrestlemania.

While he has not been used very frequently on television, Hornswoggle is usually backstage whenever WWE films Monday Night Raw and Smackdown. Many were under the impression that he had been sent home because he no longer was being utilized with the Miz and Damien Sandow, a gimmick that was viewed as being hilarious by many backstage. The Wisconsin native still works plenty of live events for the company.

Several people backstage in WWE have noted the irony in Damien Sandow becoming one of the hottest acts in the business. The gimmick of him being the stunt man for the Miz started because management wanted to bury him by having him be a comedic character that impersonated other wrestlers. Sandow impressed many within the company by committing to the character and figuring out how to make it succeed.

Rumors are floating around that WWE officials are not pleased with the debut of The Ascension on Monday Night Raw this week. The belief is that the entire segment fell a bit flat, despite management pairing them up with the popular duo of The Miz and Damien Sandow. Viktor and Konnor showed a lot of enthusiasm and energy, but the audience simply did not connect with their gimmick. Their push could be greatly affected by the first impression they gave.

The speculation going on backstage in WWE right now is that the Miz is stuck in the tag team division for the time being, as he has become somewhat a victim of success. Management had no clue that Damien Sandow was going to become this popular when the two of them first started working together. The company is not quite sure that the gimmick would work all that well if Sandow was relegated to just being a character at ringside instead of the ring.

If you watch Monday Night Raw and Smackdown on a weekly basis, then you already know that the audience has been absolutely in love with Damien Sandow and his stunt man gimmick. WWE is aware of this as well, and they're hoping that he can become one of the more entertaining aspects of the Royal Rumble match next month. There is a lot of comedic potential in an environment like that, especially since he would have to imitate Miz throughout.
