Last night, WWE wanted to push the heel turn by Titus ONeil, so they gave him a match. Since someone was needed to put him over, officials backstage went with Zack Ryder, who has not worked a televised match on Monday Night Raw since October of last year.
A shocking heel turn took place in WWE at the Smackdown taping tonight. Titus ONeil turned on his Prime Time Player teammate Darren Young during a match against Curtis Axel and Ryback. ONeil turned heel and vicious assaulted Young after proclaiming that he was tired of losing all the time.
There are rumors that Batista could be doing a heel turn after winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 30. Management has noticed the reaction that he has been receiving since making his return, and the feeling is that he might work better as an antagonist.
Roddy Piper pitched a Wrestlemania idea to WWE, where he would team up with a heel against Hulk Hogan and John Cena. Piper wanted the partner to be CM Punk, but it appears that management is currently against the idea of turning him back to a heel.
"Worst call I've ever made other than refusing to job to Brock Lesnar at Atlanta. But, you know, that was my idea. Vince always likes to do something big at Wrestlemania. He didn't have anything big planned. So, me being the rocket scientist that I am, I figured okay. You're a hot babyface, and if you turn heel, you're a hot ass heel to draw money like that. Or vice versa. By and large that is true for the most part if the time is right to turn. Well clearly the time wasn't right for me to turn. It was like everybody loved John Wayne for what he stood for and so he did not ever have to be a bad guy in his movies. He never was. People didn't want to hate me. Me, because I always loved working heel more than a babyface. Thought it was going to be a chance for me to have fun, go back to working heel, doing what I loved to do and with that being said, I love working babyface too. Obviously it's where I made my money, but I like working heel. I like being a piece of trash. I like talking trash. I like cheating. That was my style of wrestling. Man, I did a lot of that as a Stone Cold babyface. So it was a bad idea, but Vince bought into it with me."
One of the ideas being tossed around in WWE right now is to have Tyson Kidd turning into a heel. Management wanted to capitalize on his real life relationship with Natalya Neidhart, but thus far, they have not been able to come up with a suitable story line.
Colt Cabana, a good friend of CM Punk in real life, was given another tryout not too long ago with WWE, but the company opted not to sign him to a contract just yet. It now appears that he is being considered for a possible role on the upcoming WWE Network.
"CM Punk did the most memorable promo in the past 20 years of wrestling to 4 million people watching at home and I'm sure millions more who watched it online," Colt said. "If even 10 percent of the people who watched it scratched their heads and looked me, that's a whole lot of people. At the time he did that promo I had a lot of different projects going and things that I was very proud of including my podcast. I always say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make the horse drink s***** water. I like to think I had some great tasting water. Since that time a lot of people have come to check me out and stayed on for the ride. It's been great having those people as fans."
"I'm just riding the wave of fun right now. The WWE has been weirdly talking with me for over a year now. I can't rely on them though. I do my own thing until stuff gets concrete. Right now, I can't worry if I'll be doing announcing or anything else. I know I want to concentrate on continuing to wrestle around the world and growing my comedy stuff. All I can say about the future is that I'm going to be having fun with wrestling. That's a guarantee."
