An interesting idea is being tossed around right now, and if implemented, it could shatter pay per view records for UFC. CM Punk is already in the promotion and training for his first fight. Brock Lesnar is finishing off his contract with WWE in a couple of weeks and has eyes on a return to mixed martial arts. If the promotion were to put the debut fight for Punk and the return fight for Lesnar on the same card, that would draw tremendous interest.

CM Punk has some believers and supporters within UFC. Jon Jones is not one of them. The light heavyweight champion went on record as saying that he hopes Dana White gives Punk a real opponent, so we can all watch the Chicago native get knocked out. Jones feels that Punk should not have been handed an opportunity that so many fighters have been waiting for their entire lives. Jones feels that Punk is unfairly cutting in line.

When CM Punk announced that he had signed a contract with UFC, many naturally wondered who his first opponent would be. We might have ourselves an answer now. Cathal Pendrid posted a message on social media to let fans know that he will be fighting Punk next summer. The bout will be the co main event of the card that will feature Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor as the headliner. Pendrid is a lesser known fighter, but he does have a record of 15 wins, 2 losses and a draw.
