During a recent interview, Rey Mysterio said that he is looking forward to hearing when CM Punk is going to be making his debut in UFC. The former world heavyweight champion stated that he wanted to know so that he can make arrangements to be there in person to support his friend. Mysterio stated that it was not enough to simply purchase the pay per view and support Punk from home.

Critics were already complaining that CM Punk was taking too long to make his debut in UFC. Those complaints are about to be even louder, as the former world heavyweight champion has now suffered some sort of shoulder injury while doing MMA training. That means that his debut match will have to be postponed for a couple of months. Punk does not want to step into the ring until he feels that he is truly ready to compete.

The wait might almost be over. Rumors are floating around that UFC officials have started looking at potential opponents for CM Punk. They feel that he has advanced far enough in his training for them to do that now. Of course, it is not a simple process, as the matchmakers still need to factor in the marketing side of seeing the debut match of a former WWE Heavyweight Champion. An announcement is expected soon.

When asked if he would be willing to fight CM Punk in a UFC match, Alberto Del Rio said he would if the offer was fair and right. However, that does not mean that there is any animosity between the two former WWE stars. They're just competitive guys who are on friendly terms. Del Rio even stated that he was going to attend the debut match of Punk, which still has not been booked by Dana White.

Of course, the former diva isn't all that eager to take on these bookings at the moment because she does not really need the money. She would rather spend time with CM Punk as he trains for his UFC debut.

Many fans automatically assumed that the UFC debut match for CM Punk would take place when the promotion does a pay per view in his hometown of Chicago. It makes all the marketing sense in the world to do that because the audience would more than likely be hot for the former world heavyweight champion. However, during an interview, Punk stated that it was unlikely to happen because the pressure would simply be too much to handle.

Count Randy Orton as one of the people in WWE that are rooting for CM Punk to do well in UFC. He has said to those around him that if Punk does well in MMA, then it gives professional wrestlers some credibility as athletes. Orton feels that people underestimate their abilities because the outcome of matches are scripted and predetermined. Several other wrestlers share the same opinion and will be watching his debut match intently.
