From the very moment that the announcement was made, fans of professional wrestling and MMA both started wondering who would be the first opponent for CM Punk in UFC. Officials recently shed some light on the situation by stating that they are currently looking at guys outside of the promotion that they can bring in. They stated that it would definitely be a competitive fight. It was also revealed that Punk would be a headliner.

Prior to the big UFC announcement, CM Punk was being courted by another promotion. He had received a call from Ring of Honor, his former home, to see if he was interested in making a return. The former world heavyweight champion was not interested in being a full time professional wrestler at this point, so he declined. ROH reportedly attempted to get him to make a couple of appearances, but he declined that invitation as well.

While the decision has not been made public yet, Punk has a plethora of choices.
