Jay Briscoe vs Samoa Joe

Earlier in the week, Samoa Joe was spotted hanging out with other wrestlers at Walemania. It's not all fun and games, however. The former world heavyweight champion worked a match for ROH, where he challenged Jay Briscoe for their version of the heavyweight championship. Briscoe successfully retained, but that does not come as a surprise to those who believe that Joe will be signing up with the WWE developmental program soon.

Wrestlemania opener

While it may seem like a non factor to most fans, there is actually a debate going on backstage in WWE right now about which match will open the kickoff show for Wrestlemania this year. Initially, Vince McMahon had the fatal four way for the tag team championship penciled in as the first match of the show. Now, with the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal being bumped off the main card, he is considering using that as the opener.

Roman Reigns losing

Some possible good news for fans who are against the idea of Roman Reigns becoming the top star in WWE. The widespread feeling is that giving the belt to Reigns will actually hurt him in the long run because the fans are so against it right now.

Sheamus Wrestlemania match

A lot of people are under the impression that Sheamus is going to be a mystery entrant into the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal at Wrestlemania. However, WWE has been telling fans that there are only going to be 20 contestants. Each of those spots have been filled. So now, the belief is that the former world heavyweight champion is going to be thrown into the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship instead.

Finn Balor promotion

Based on talks backstage this past week, it looks like Finn Balor is going to be cutting in line. Rather than going through the process of NXT and carrying the heavyweight championship first, the front office is talking about spring boarding him up to the main roster shortly after Wrestlemania. The belief is that when he signed with the company, Balor was assured that he would not be stuck in developmental for too long of a period of time.

John Cena winning

While a lot of WWE fans are overjoyed right now about the Brock Lesnar news, they are about to be brought back down to earth for a bit when they realize that the new contract means that John Cena has a better chance of winning the United States Heavyweight Championship from Rusev at Wrestlemania. Since Lesnar will still be part time, the front office wanted a belt on Cena, so that he can use it to headline live events each week.

Wolves stripped

While Eddie Edwards was working vigorously to be able to return from an injury in time for the next taping of Impact Wrestling, TNA opted instead to strip he and Davey Richards of the world tag team championship. The reason for doing that is because the front office does not want to risk either one of them being hurt again. The company views the Wolves as two of their key players in the division, so they want to ensure they stick around.

The Ascension at Wrestlemania

Looks like things have worked out better for The Ascension than initially thought. WWE did not view them as being good enough for the tag team championship match, so Los Matadores replaced them. The front office then opted to put that match on the kickoff show instead. Since they needed depth in the Andre the Giant memorial battle, Konnor and Viktor were given spots, which means they get to work on the main card.
