For those that missed the POP TV debut of Impact Wrestling, Ethan Carter is once again the world heavyweight champion in TNA. That is quite interesting as the original plans called for Bobby Lashley to defeat Matt Hardy for the belt. No official word yet on why management made the change, but there are speculations that Lashley might need to focus more on his MMA training now that he is a top contender for a Bellator title.

In less than a minute, Lashley defeated Thompson via TKO in the first. The easy victory has sparked talks of a potential title shot for Lashley. No word yet on when the former world heavyweight champion is going to fight next.

It appears that Bobby Lashley and Kurt Angle have come through for TNA. Their world heavyweight championship match was heavily promoted, and it increased viewership for that episode of Impact Wrestling by a very impressive margin of 20 percent. Executives at Destination America should be quite pleased with that, especially since they were the ones that pushed the front office to make Angle the centerpiece attraction again.
