Reports are coming out of TNA that Sting is close to signing a new contract that will keep him in the company through 2008.

That’s good news for TNA. Sting still has enough star power to provide TNA with some credibility. Plus, he’s still recognizable enough to where casual wrestling fans will check out the show. Sting also provides a veteran presence in the locker room as many have stated that he’s constantly suggesting to the writing staff to utilize him to elevate the younger talent.

This is also good news for Sting. It is rumored that TNA is willing to pay him $500,000. That salary is especially high when you consider that Sting basically works 5 days a month. He also has enough say in how his character is portrayed, which is a huge reason why he refuses to sign with WWE.
