Floyd Mayweather’s pay for Wrestlemania has ruffled a few feathers. While it’s still not entirely certain that Floyd Mayweather is actually getting paid $20 million, he’s still getting a sizable amount of money from WWE. It’s enough money to lower the payout for the WWE roster.

We understand that spending money on Floyd Mayweather is spending money to market Wrestlemania. He better come through and deliver the goods. Otherwise, WWE would have just alienated their employees without much of a gain.

The idea was to have a tag team match at Wrestlemania. Floyd Mayweather would team up with MVP. Their opponents would be Oscar De La Hoya and Rey Mysterio.

Unfortunately, though, Oscar De La Hoya refused to be involved, so the idea was dropped. WWE then turned to the Big Show as a replacement. They also had to drop Rey Mysterio as well because of his injuries.

That tag team match would have been huge. It also would have made much more sense.

He usually draws one of the biggest Wrestlemania bonus checks when he works the event. In fact, he makes more on a simple appearance than a lot of the guys that work matches at Wrestlemania.

WWE made an offer to Oscar De La Hoya to be involved in the program with rival boxer Floyd Mayweather and the Big Show. It’s a program that Shane McMahon has been working on for nearly a year.

Oscar De La Hoya turned down the offer. He will continue to train for his next fight.

Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya are scheduled for another boxing match later on this year.

Earlier today, WWE had several discussions in regards to how to utilize Floyd Mayweather at Wrestlemania. Right now, he is confirmed for the event. Sources also state that he will more than likely be physically involved in a match.

The strong rumors right now list Rey Mysterio, MVP, and Shane McMahon as possible candidates to be involved in the Wrestlemania segment with Floyd Mayweather. Rey Mysterio’s involvement is highly dependent on his health. MVP’s involvement doesn’t really make a lot of sense because he should be defending his WWE United States Heavyweight Championship against Matt Hardy.

Floyd Mayweather, a professional boxer, is scheduled to appear tonight on Monday Night Raw. The Big Show is scheduled for an appearance as well.

Sources state that WWE is considering holding Wrestlemania in Mexico City in 2009 or 2010.

Vince McMahon has long wanted Wrestlemania to appear to be a worldwide phenomenon. In many ways, it already is because the entire world watches the annual wrestling extravaganza. It becomes even more of a worldwide phenomenon if the event was actually held around the world.

Japan may be out of the question right now because WWE hasn’t particularly impressed the fan base there. However, we can easily see WWE holding a Wrestlemania in England as well. They might even be able to do one in Thailand since they are wildly popular there.

According to sources, Vince McMahon has been working out even harder than normal in preparations of a match at Wrestlemania. He routinely works out anyways, but as of late, he’s been stepping it up.

Right now, the strong indication is that he will be working a match against Finlay. Hornswoggle will definitely be involved as well, but it’s unclear what role he will have.

There were also speculations that Mick Foley could be brought in to work a program against Vince McMahon. However, aside from a brief appearance in the Royal Rumble, there hasn’t been any indications that it’s going to happen.

A match against Ric Flair this year at Wrestlemania is a prestigious spot in that the person chosen will have the dubious distinction of being the man that retires Ric Flair. For those of you that don’t know, Ric Flair is currently involved in a storyline where he has to retire if he loses a match.

The two leading candidates to fill that spot has been Shawn Michaels and Mr Kennedy.

With Mr Kennedy scheduled to face Ric Flair at the upcoming No Way Out pay per view, it looks like management has decided on having Shawn Michaels as Ric Flair’s Wrestlemania opponent.

Kind of interesting that they would go with Shawn Michaels as the person to retire Ric Flair. Most had expected WWE to utilize this storyline to elevate a young wrestler by giving him more heel heat. Someone like Mr Kennedy, John Morrison, the Miz, or MVP would have benefited greatly from the rub.

Another point of interest is that a year ago, Ric Flair wasn’t even scheduled for a match at Wrestlemania. This year, he’s involved in one of the higher profile matches on the show. Quite a turnaround.
