Now that you know about the legendary Guerrero wrestling family, let's get to the man himself now.
Eddie Guerrero's Education
Eddie Guerrero was born and raised in the city of El Paso, Texas. The city is right on the Mexican border, so he was received the best of both worlds.
Growing up, Eddie Guerrero was involved in athletics. He was good enough as an amateur wrestler that he received a scholarship to attend college.
Eddie Guerrero crossed state lines to attend college.
He spent some time in Albuquerque, NM at the University of New Mexico. He also spent time at the New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM.
Eddie Guerrero in AAA
After college, Eddie Guerrero returned home to El Paso to begin training for a career in professional wrestling.
He trained with his legendary brothers (Chavo, Hector, and Mando) before making his official debut in 1987.
Eddie Guerrero crossed the border to become a star in Mexico by working for the AAA wrestling promotion.
The Atomic Pair
While there, he reformed the legendary tag team of the Atomic Pair with a wrestler named El Hijo del Santo.
El Hijo del Santo happens to be the son of El Santo, who was the tag team partner of Gory Guerrero (Eddie's father).
In comparison, it was kind of like when Dustin Rhodes and Kendall Windham teamed together as the Texas Broncos years after their father (Dusty Rhodes and Blackjack Mulligan) worked together.
The Pair of Terror
Eddie Guerrero turned heel on El Hijo del Santo and formed a tag team that would lead to tremendous success for him.
He formed a team with Art Barr called the Pair of Terror. The two would go on to become the most hated tag team in all of Mexico.
The close friendship with Art Barr would remain in Eddie Guerrero's heart until his untimely passing.
As close as Eddie Guerrero was with Chris Benoit, his relationship with Art Barr was even closer.
When Art Barr passed away, Eddie Guerrero took the frog splash finisher and made it his own as a tribute to his fallen tag team partner.
Los Gringos Locos
The promoters down in Mexico decided to capitalize on the heat that Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr were generating by giving them a stable.
Los Gringos Locos was born and became one of the biggest attractions south of the border.
Several wrestlers were rotated in and out of the group, including Konnan.
