WWE was not as oblivious to the accusations thrown at Bill DeMott as many fans assume them to be. There are cameras installed throughout the performance center, and the company does keep footage of all the practices. The move was done a couple of years back because the front office wanted to protect themselves from potential lawsuits from disgruntled developmental wrestlers who ended up not making it to the main roster.

When WWE announced that they were doing another season of Tough Enough, a lot of fans were excited until they heard that Steve Austin was not initially scheduled to be a part of the show. His stock and price demand have increased tremendously since having his own successful television shows. Now that Bill DeMott as resigned as the head trainer for the company, word has it that Austin now has a ton of leverage against management in a negotiation.

Almost immediately upon his resignation announcement, fans made speculations about the actual status of Bill DeMott within WWE. Some believed that he had actually been covertly moved to a front office position to wait things out while the heat dies down. When informed of those rumors, management actually released a statement to the media that it was not the case. DeMott has completely resigned from the company.

Since the word has spread so rapidly and so far reaching, WWE felt the need to address the issue with their fans. They provided a short public message on the situation. Management states that they looked into the matter two years ago, but they were unable to validate any of the claims that were made by Judas Devlin.

One of the things being overlooked right now is the fact that Steve Austin has not been officially attached to the show yet.
