A widespread belief in the industry is that if CM Punk were to return to WWE, it would have taken place at Monday Night Raw this week since it took place in his hometown of Chicago. Diego
Since the company was doing shows simultaneously at both ends of the state, WWE decided to book Rey Mysterio up north instead of doing the show in his hometown. That turned out to be quite the costly mistake for management, as the show in San Diego drew very poorly at the gates without the popular masked star.

Cameron
While WWE has often times chosen to humiliate performers when they're working in front of their hometown crowds, management opted to give Cameron a win on Monday Night Raw in Los Angeles. She posted this special message on Twitter to commemorate the night.

Alberto Del Rio
Since it is heavily integrated into his character, most fans associate Rey Mysterio with his hometown of San Diego. Instead, he was sent up north to San Jose to work a six man tag team match featuring Mark Henry, Xavier Woods, Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro.

Rockstar Spud

"I really am living the dream and returning to the UK, whatever the reaction, really tops its off. It has been a whirlwind year or so really but I can’t think of a better way to top it off than with this tour and getting to wrestle for TNA in front of my hometown crowd. It might be a cliché but it really is a dream come true, I have wanted to be a wrestler for so long and now being able to do it, is just amazing.”

- Rockstar Spud talks about being on Impact Wrestling in England

While a lot of fans bought into the hype of the match since a legendary name was attached to it, WWE is viewing the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal as an afterthought. There is even a strong push to move it off the pay per view and utilized it as a kickoff match, despite several stars such as Ryback, Kofi Kingston, Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler being rumored for spots.
March 15, 2014
Mark Henry
Since he is on his last contract with the company, the belief is that Mark Henry has accepted the fact that he will only be a role player for WWE until the deal ends. Management recently dropped his planned story line with Big E Langston, and they simply have him floating around right now, most notably being used as a filler in the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar feud.
March 15, 2014
Big E Langston
Over the last couple of weeks, WWE had been building towards a triple threat Intercontinental Championship match for Big E Langston, where he would defend against Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro at Wrestlemania 30, but management has opted to throw that out the window and place Langston into the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal instead.

March 4, 2014
Dean Ambrose
Thought it would be heavily rushed into play, there are still those backstage in WWE that are pushing for Dean Ambrose to receive a singles match at Wrestlemania 30 against Big E Langston. It would be the match where the United States and Intercontinental Championship would be combined, so that the creative department no longer has to write for both belts.

Jack Swagger
Despite becoming one of the most popular stars in the entire company as of late, Antonio Cesaro was removed from the Hulu broadcast of Monday Night Raw this week. Big E Langston
"I think it'd be great. Obviously I'm not really aware of what's going, but I think there's a lot of people who desperately want him back, a lot of fans who would be excited to have him back. If that were to be the case, if he did return, I think there'd be a huge buzz around it. I think it would definitely be a positive thing. Like I said, I'm not sure particularly what's going on, if there's a chance or even a possibility or if it's imminent. But I know if he did return there'd be a lot of buzz and a lot of happy fans as well." - Big E Langston discussing the backstage heat situation with CM Punk
